He just went LOTTO... mostly off nice You Tubes vs nobodies. I did see some shooter touch, quickness. He has not played serious games vs serious talent.. so? He can be a Great player (but not yet) or a bust.
Suns took a Tall raw Greek kid I never heard of...... this is a strange thing. Supposedly... he's swapped to Sac Town? They HAVE 2 centers. WTF? Cowtown has some issues. I don't think 3rd string C is a legit priority.

Does anyone remember how the Draftexpress mock draft looked like just before the draft? I'm pretty sure they didn't have Thon at 10 and Furkan Korkmaz that low

No, but i'm guessing they didn't have Thon in the first round.

Milwaukee and Sacramento... can anyone justify what they did tonight? I think Sacramento managed to screw up even worse than the Bucks. Chriss fell to them - a great fit for them and clearly the best player availabe, imo. And they appeared to like him. But they trade down... for yet another center... who's probably j ust as raw as Maker. How does Vlade think that makes sense - when they want to build around Cousins? If anyone can give a good defense of what Milwaukee or Sac did, I'd love to hear it.

Yep. I checked it out about 2 hrs before, and they moved him up to 10.

I don't remember about DX but Thon to #10 leaked a little early. Chad Ford had it on his final mock.

A 7 ft, agile 3 pt shooting athlete drafted in lottery in a weak draft.... go figure. I remember mock draft experts snickering when Drumond the most athletic big man since Shaq was drafted "so high". I honestly don't know much about the guy but I can't count on one hand the number of guys his size who are as fluid as him. Maybe he isn't really 19, but if he is then he can't be a much worse gamble than Bender.
"I think the criticism's stupid," Stevens said. "So I don't care. I'm with Jaylen (Brown) on that. Those two had achieved more than most 25 and 26 year olds ever had. I'd rather be in the mix and have my guts ripped out than suck."

Bucks fans have met their Maker.

I hated the pick but love the person. He comes off so well in interviews, it's hard not to pull for him. And there's no question about his effort level and work ethic.

One thing NBA bigs need is good hands. His hands are small, and he's known to bobble more than his fair share of balls. This might be a bigger limiting factor for him than how raw he is.

Sure you can justify the Thon pick. If Milwaukee didn't really love any of the other prospects at 10 (which, personally, I did not), I can understand swinging for the fences on a 7'1" athletic freak who is supposedly very intelligent and very hard-working.

There's plenty of reason to be concerned about the pick, but if he busts, he's just one of probably many busts. If he hits, he could be one of the top 3 players in this draft. I'm curious to see what exactly he does this year though. Nobody thought Giannis would play in the NBA the year he was drafted and they decided to throw him to the wolves anyways. It's different with Thon because you'd expect that he's a center long-term and he physically can't handle centers right now, but we'll see.

In the very least, Summer League should be fun, and the fact that he actually worked out for the Bucks and apparently wowed them gives me at least some hope. It's not like their only film on him was the YouTube highlights.

LOL Draftexpress had Paul Zipser ranked ahead of Thon Maker as a prospect. Demetrius Jackson was ranked highly on that website for quite some time and he didn't get drafted in the first round.

Thon Maker is the Kimbo Slice of basketball.

The Greek guy looks pretty good to me, have no idea why Sac town took him though-

His hands are normal, I don't know where that complete fabrication came from. I think he just needs to :lift: :

He's at most 20 or so imo. But doesnt matter.. He really is a smooth athlete, capable of some advanced moves. I think he stagnated with the coaching available to him in H.S. But should blossom in that postionless system they have going in Milwaukee

Don't know why Drummond and Giannis are being compared to Thon Maker. Thon Maker is arguably older than nearly all of the NCAA players in the draft, and was playing against Highschool students.

He's 23 and in highschool...how is this anything like Giannis and Drummond is beyond me. That's not to mention he wasn't even that dominant against HSers.

Aiming for the fences...meh, I don't think his ceiling is all that high. If he's 19, then that's not as bad, but I have my doubts, and that's still old as hell for a HS player lol.

I was going by what the "experts" were saying last night. Thanks for the correction. Maybe their point was that he doesn't have good hands. I haven't seen anywhere near enough of him to tell if he does.

Yeah I was talking about the experts that said he had small hands. He can fumble the ball at times but I think it's because he's a string bean big who uses a lot of possessions.
