Sam Pressti and Pat Riley think Brown is the next Vince Carter

Post#1 » by emkeyfour » Sat Jun 25, 2016 12:08 am

Was listening to this radio station on my way to the gym. Apparently, top GMs in the league including Pat fahkin Riley and Presti applauded Danny Ainge for picking Jaylen Brown. Presti claimed Brown will shine under coash Stevens and Celtics will be one of the fastest teams in the league.

Both Presti and Riley think Jaylen could become the next Vince Carter & Dwayne Wade type of player.

Presti also said Bender could become franchise player - the best player to come out of this draft once he gets NBA expetience and adds more muscle to his frame.

I am now in peace with Danny and the org. not making any trades. Unless you can get Durant and Butler - we are NOT competing for the championship. 99.9% we don't get KD or Butler so what is the point of wasting money on someone who will not change the face of the franchise ? Kevin Durant is the only player that could do this.

There are 3-4 FRANCHISE players coming out in the next year draft. Nets most likely will be the worst team in the league.

Next year Celtics should try to get Russel Westbrook.

I like Jimmy Butler, but he is not worth 3rd pick, Bradley + Jae or Smart. FAHK THAT! That 3rd pick could be the next Kobe Bryant! YOU NEVER EVER KNOW.

I predict that Simmons will be a bust (GREG ODEN) and Ingram will be successful like Durant.

I wonder who Jaylen was referring to in that tweet? Simmons?

Ohhhh, the one in May? It may have been about himself honestly. He seems like a self reflective dude. He admitted to having a poor season at Cal and wants to prove he is better than that.

Now that Sam presti said this, I feel more at ease. Cause that guy is money with the draft. So is McDonough from Phoenix

We should build a Detroit Pistons model type of team. In every position they were STACKED. That's what we should do. Forget the small ball that GSW are doing. Their GM says its time to change things.

Celtics are good in every position besides Center. We need a scrappy center like Anderson Varejao while he was with Cavs or Noah while he was in his prime.

Continue to mold the team and by the time they are in their mid to high 20s LeBron, Durant etc will decline big time.

Simmons is a total bust as #1 pick/franchise guy - he's a non-scoring non-defense triple double stats guy who will have **** relationships with teammates.

PF Rondo without the tenacity for prime time pressure situations.

Dario Saric is 10 times the competitor Simmons is

Bill, mind giving your quick take on Brown or player comparisons for floor/ceiling?

In total agreement on Simmons. Barring significant personal development (which is quite difficult given his draft status, natural ability, and how I believe the team will handle him), I fear great challenges lie ahead in terms of him reaching his full potential.

I was just gloating about this to my friend (who is a Mavs fan btw) saying that.

"Watch out for our pick. That kid Jaylen Brown is a hybrid of Wade and Vince Carter."
I was telling him, jokingly of course, the way every fan would hype up a pick.
Then Riley and Presti would go out and say this.

When danny was asked about the pick he said that at least 5 teams had Jaylen at around top 5 and 20 more around top 8. Pat and Presti must be 2/5 (excluding Boston) Not bad company I tell you.

I like Brandon Ingram a LOT. I'll be surprised if he doesn't emerge as the top player of this draft. (Edit: At least the top scorer of this draft). Not to shade any other players out there, because I do like Simmons, Hield, Murray, Dunn and Brown as well, but Ingram looks like a 25/30ppg player when he's done developing, IMO.

Simmons could be the next Michael Beasley or Derrick Coleman, left handed PF players who became busts.

Simmons will likely be at least a ten to fifteen year NBA player. He has a lot of good ability, and is a truly gifted passer. He should have led LSU to the Tourney though. He might be a very solid player, but he doesn't have the ability to will his team to victories.

Brown has such a quick spin move in the paint when he drives that he will be so tough to stop. I am very excited about this guy coming in and just be quick, athletic, smart, and probably having a better shot than he gets credit for.

There is a chance in a year or two that we look back on the potential for trading him for Butler, and are thankful we didn't.

Gotta feel nice to be a rookie knowing that the team that just drafted you is building a brand new practice facility.

I am so happy that Danny finally found YOUNG STUD that you approve of :)

I agree though, really like his potential and I think he will be a positive factor right away.

I don't see it. I'm thinking 20-22 is his absolute max, this dude has cream puff jeff green benzos written all over him. He's a good fit in the modern NBA but he doesn't have that dog in him

Simmons won't bust but he'll be nowhere near the comparisons he's received. He'll be a stat hound that doesn't contribute much to winning. He'll also be that guy you say "is he really good enough to build our team around?". Ben needs the ball in his hands to be successful and that's a big problem for team unless it's LBJ
