Also teams will be dumping legit rotation players onto cap space in order to sign target FA's. And/or discounted draft picks after exhausting angles in bigger trades and need to make roster decisions. Denver, Boston, Phoenix, Sacramento, etc... can't possibly keep all of their players and cap holds.

Not a good year to have so many FAs.

Hold your horses man. I'm not sure Marco plays a game here.

I post more on HP than here and we've been speculating a three team deal with the Kings and Bucks where we would unload Lamb, Hawes, Richardson, and Belinelli and get Brogdon and MCW + cap space in return.

Looks like Richardson is heading out to Sacramento tomorrow, though Vlade - like Cho - hasn't even mentioned him due to the trade being in limbo. Weird situation.

So just a hunch. Hope you are right but I feel we would have heard at least a rumor from a national guy by this point.

They did say there would be a lot of moving parts with 8 free agents on the team. I'm certain they don't have everything sorted out yet. This will be one chaotic off-season with all the moving parts and the salary explosion.

Yeah, very odd. Not exactly feeling the love from SAC.

Also, apparently MIL worked out Richardson and have been tracking him since high school - http://m.jsonline.com/sports/bucks/bucks-show-interest-in-malachi-richardsons-perimeter-shooting-b99745576z1-383362021.html

By contrast, the Kings did not work out Richardson.

the Kings only worked out 1 player in the top 30 (or something like that) as agents were steering clients away from them.

That would be an incredible trade for us IMO. MCW would be an awesome back up for Kemba - and have the ability to play next to him at times with Kemba playing off ball. Would desperately need to add another big though.

That said, can't see how this is possible - because Belinelli couldn't be traded with other players.

Kemba - MCW
Bats - Daniels
MKG - Brogdon
Marv - Frank
Cody - ???

Technically the first trade hasn't happened yet and could easily be amended to include a third team. Unlikely as it may be.

It's almost like we are trying to acquire as many people as possible under old salary cap contracts.

We just don't care if they are any good or not. This gives us kemba, mkg, hawes, lamb, and belinelli under old pricing. Batu and marvin under new. And kaminsky on a rookie contract. So that's 8 rotation guys. Zeller will probably get a big deal. So that's 9. And we are capped out without a good roster. And no good draft picks in the future. Ugh.

Sigh. I forgot Cody's rookie contract is almost up. I wonder what he's going to get paid.

I've been reading that a lot of teams were preferring to draft and stash in the first round. Is that an indication that the first round was really that crappy?

Another thought I had was maybe we never wanted to be part of the draft, wanted to save every cent for signing established players. (which Belinelli is, although he doesn't excite me)

http://www.todaysfastbreak.com/nba-east/charlotte-hornets/hornets-trade-marco-belinelli-head-scratcher/

"First, Belinelli hasn’t been good since he left San Antonio. Second, the Hornets took on more salary instead of jettisoning unproductive contracts. A number of Charlotte’s key players are entering free agency, and the chatter surrounding the team suggested that a move to obtain financial flexibility was imminent. That is why it was particularly stunning when they added Belinelli despite their lack of cap space."

You guys do realize how bad Sacramento was as a team. Belinelli played on one of the worst benches in the league.

The Kings finished 33-49. That is by no means horrible. In fact, their bench was 7th in the league in scoring per game, while Charlotte was 10th. Their bench rebounding was bad, finishing 27th. But as I showed earlier, Belinelli was terrible all around last season.

I have nothing against the guy, I just think the move was a mistake.

You do realize that Belinelli played a integral role in Sacramento being a bad team, right? Lol

George Karl is one of the best coaches to ever do it and he has a history of doing it with less talent, only about 3 years removed from NBA Coach of the Year, and he couldn't get Belly to look decent.

Thru Belinelli's 9 year career he's only had one good year and that was 2013-14 in SAS. The season following that Pop DNP-CD'd him often and then they let him walk. Then he stunk it up in Sacramento last year. Now we're here.

Dumb trade.
