Justin Holiday had a career year for us last year, BUT it was only in a 24 game sample size. Before then he was playing on other teams and put up some very underwhelming stats. You might be getting the best of him though because he really outperformed the expectations that were set for him after he was traded to us last year. He's a bench guy who can hit some 3's. decent defender. He's only 27 so he might be blossoming at the right time

Why don't you think Lance will be back? I sure hope he is.

Phil already said he plans on resigning Thomas and Galloway. Holiday is a nice end of the rotation, locker room guy to have that will get minutes in blow outs.

Holiday is ahead of Galloway in any rotation. I think he can be effective in a Bruce Bowen type role.

for some reason Hoiberg decided to have him inbound the ball when we had better passers available to do that. Why would you make a guy who's only played a handful of games for your team inbound the ball in a crucial pressure situation. That was just dumb

Hope Justin Holiday could be that Khris Middleton type of wing that I had always wanted for us.

It looks like he has kind of been stuck in limbo for a few years. Goes undrafted, gets a 10 day deal then waived, plays in the D-Leauge, earns a spot with GS, little burn behind Klay Thompson, earns a multi-year deal with Atlanta, they don't use him, traded to Bulls, gets light burn behind Butler, traded to Knicks. Once you go undrafted as a Senior it is a tough climb for these players to get in the league and get meaningful minutes. If no major SG is signed I would give him a shot to earn the starting spot.

we'd have money for Nowitski or Pau Gasol, too :)

Pissed off Bulls fan here. You do NOT want Pau Gasol. Without Kobe riding his lazy ass. He is a cancer and I believe he is what killed the Bulls.

Derek Rose will ride again. And you guys will reap the benefits.

Holiday will be a very solid 9th man for you.

How is he anything like Grant? Holiday can actually hit a jump shot.

So this kat can ball huh? He's better coming off the bench I'm assuming. Still need a SG.
Make the Knicks great again!

If that's what he's saying then isn't that true of just about every young prospect? those undrafted guys we signed are our new version of Jerian Grant. Young, talented, and a little upside. That 2nd round pick we got from Chicago could be our new version of Jerian Grant. He'll be young, talented, and a little upside.

Looks like a spot up shooter. The more 3 and D guys the better. Him and Early would be my two guards this season. I would live to add Manu.
He seems like a willing defender and that's all I care about on that end.
Dorian Finney-Smith is out there guys. We could use him a lot.

exactly my point. they are both not more than that, just they play the game differently and have other strenghts, like u said. Holiday can hit a jumper, while grant is better at penetration and pick and rolls, i assume.

Its still an even trade, imo

Early really isn't a SG though. He was barely a SF and more of a tweener forward. And he's also a free agent right now and no indication that the Knicks will want him back.

I do like Dorian Finney-Smith though. He would be an interesting guy to add on a cheap rookie minimum contract.

True. He's very much just a wing. That's also why Holiday is ahead of him. He has some handle but the most you want out of your core guys is the hockey pass, dribble drives or dish and step ups or to the sides. Same I would want from Holiday(a better shooter), Thomas and Finney-Smith. Being dedicated to ball movement, defense and spot up shooting is all these guys should be about.
Yes but we need role players for now and the future. We also need athletes. He fits the bill. Or someone like him. I'm also trying to lose but have the team for contention(outside of the star players) by next season. I want our draft pick to land a great prosepect like Josh Jackson. So we can go to Durant and Westbrook with..
3rd option Melo.
Future contention in KP and Jackson.
6th man Rose
Length role players in Thomas, Early, Galloway, Holiday, O'Quinn, Willy, Finney-Smith and Baker.
So this season is about getting the future bench in order. Treating Rose/Melo with kids gloves to be ready for 2017 contention. Development of KP. Getting the 1st pick.
If we are relying on FA's to come in help us win we are essentially reverse engineering most championship teams. While the usually suck and get their core from the draft(we do want that too with the pick) they usually have to have a good core to convince a bench to come play for them. Since we want to convince a core we have to have a bench for them to believe in.
