He's excellent off the bench running an offense and he's a capable starter for when Rose is rested or is out for a few games (which, let's be realistic is inevitable). He can also play three positions so he can be on the floor with rose as well. He's also a good defender: http://stats.nba.com/player/#!/202323/tracking/defense/?Season=2015-16&SeasonType=Regular%20Season

He's not a three point shooter but for 7-9 million, I think he would be a solid pick up.

I thought they didn't like each other?

He's not a PG, by the way. He can run the offense, but that doesn't make you a point. If he's starting for us, we're **** (unless we pulled KD).

I said he can run the offense.

And I didn't say he would start..I said he would be excellent off the bench and he can start in place of Rose to run the offense When Rose is out. He can guard three positions easily. I think he would be a very good fit.

When you said he is a capable starter when Rose is resting or out, I thought you meant him starting at PG while Rose is hurt. If you didn't mean that, my mistake.

What 3 positions can he guard? I really only think it's the 3 and small ball 4. Maybe 2 for very brief stretches, but that's all I'd say.

He can guard 2 and 3 and a lot of the 4s as well. It would give us a lot of flexibility with our lineups.

Eh, I disagree about the 2. He's never had the foot speed to guard 2s going back to college - especially running around screens chasing them around the court.

Agree to disagree about that, but yeah, he'd give us more lineup flexibility.

Man. The thought that Jose's play for the Bulls could positively impact our draft position is a glorious thing.

I hope maybe Rose shows something the first half of the season and we can flip him for a draft pick of something

Another option is Crawford for that change of pace or Lin to run a double point, Like Hornicek likes to.

I think it's because we haven't had a good PG in forever, and Rose's demeanor/focus is very on point with where we want it to be. He's truly saying all the right things. The guy is going to work hard to win here in NY. He wants to win as a Knick. He's happy to be a Knick. So I'm rolling on the D-Rose train. I saw enough positives in the (probably 6-7 games) I saw of him play last year, and the highlights, so between that, and his words, and the fact that he is just 28...I feel good. I am usually an optimist about most things in life, even with the Knicks, but it's a pretty low risk, high reward trade.

Plus, if Rose can recruit for us...it's a huge added plus. If the PG says to a guy that is thinking of coming here, or not- hey I'm working hard, I'm in shape, I'm ready to win, and I'm going to get you the ball....between that, and Melo/Phil's recruiting, that could help give us an edge. Rose has a track record, and if he's healthy, and telling guys he's healthy, that will help.

I think we really got to treat him like Pop does Timmy. He likely will never be MVP Rose or play a full season. So we need to keep him ready for important games.
Rose since January 1st..18/4/3 on 46% and 33% from 3.

Honestly, if Rose averages those numbers, maybe a couple more assists, and we are winning, he may make the all-star team.

I'd say 18, 6.8, 4, and decent shooting percentages, and the Knicks winning, could net him an all-star appearance. Especially if we start winning next year...it will be a big deal, and Rose will get a ton of credit. But we need to win games.

We won 50+ games with an old J Kidd, hopefully Rose can get healthy and we can do the same this season. Melo has just been missing a good PG all these years. We have seen how well he plays when we do have one. 8-)

Somebody make some sense out of something for me.

The Bulls, with largely the same personnel as they had in the 2014-15 season, took 1700 3's. They supposedly hired the free wheeling, run it up and down guy in Fred Hoiberg. The 1700 3's is down from their 1800 attempts the year prior.

In the 2014-15 season, the Bulls were FIFTH in Free Throw rate...

In the 2015-16 season, the Bulls were TWENTY EIGHTH...

Derrick Rose played in 66 games this past season. In his first 4 seasons in the league, Derrick Rose averaged 5 FTA's/night.

Derrick Rose averaged 2.7 Free Throw attempts per game this past season. He averaged 6.9 FTA in the 2011 season when he won the MVP...

how sway?
What do I care...it's rigged anyway

trophywinner wrote:be prepared to see a lot of this. rose loves push ahead and is a monster in transition. his court vision & passing are heavily underrated imo

The development of his passing game is probably one of the biggest things the injuries robbed him of. In 2012 we started seeing maturation in his game where he was consistently probing the defense for easy looks and varying tempo and attack to keep defenses geared to stop him off balance, rather than just being mostly pick and roll/pop and drive and kick like had been earlier in his career. It'll be interesting to see if he can get back to level of comfort and awareness next year. Playing for a coach who has a successful track record with explosive PGs should help quite a bit as opposed to Hoiberg's system which seems more wing-centric.

One thing you'll notice about Derrick is that his strong wrists/core really let him fire the ball around the floor and that he he's good at punishing overloaded defenses with bullet passes to the weak side. Thibodeau's offense took advantage of this frequently and it created lots of clean 3P looks in 2014-15. Didn't really see as much of that last year under Hoiberg, but that shouldn't be a surprise considering that the first year under his offensive system was pretty much a disaster.

D Rose's bullet passes are nasty. When he wants to he can fire it just as fast as LeBron across the court.

D Rose has the heart of a champion, i know he's gonna play his heart out every night, thats all you can ask for in any player on any team, watching his presser gave me chills you can feel how bad he wants to be great, how bad he wants to win i rather have d rose then the other 85% of pgs in this league and thats real.

I cant wait to see how porzingis looks like now with a actual pg. Not just a dribble dribble dribble pass to melo in calderon
