I'll take Pelicans!

I've played many GMATs and I'm the only vocal person on the pelicans team board who is actually a fan of the team.

Also please stick to realism! If you want to scratch your itch and deal stars go do GMAT's on the T&T games board. This is more for posters who love making the middle moves. For example, I'm not going to pitch Durant, or trade Jrue Holiday even if those are things the Pelicans should try and go for in an ideal world.

Priorities
- Address the small forward position
- Figure out if Anderson should and could be retained for a reasonable price.
- add young talent that can contribute now

Optional shakeups
-float Tyreke Evans out there.
-deal Asik or Ajinca and find a more mobile option at center.

Teams Still Up For Grabs (even if you're not directly a fan of these teams, but are a credible, veteran poster here and are interested, choose one):

Atlanta Hawks:
Boston Celtics:
Chicago Bulls:
Cleveland Cavaliers:
Detroit Pistons:
Golden State Warriors:
Houston Rockets:
Indiana Pacers:
Los Angeles Clippers:
Los Angeles Lakers:
Memphis Grizzlies:
Miami Heat:
Milwaukee Bucks:
Minnesota Timberwolves:
New York Knicks:
Orlando Magic:
Portland Trail Blazers:
San Antonio Spurs:
Toronto Raptors:
Washington Wizards:

I'm a bit on the swamped side at work but if no one wants to take the Knicks I can do it. Not sure if we are going to get all 30 teams picked up though to start tomorrow. I would suggest maybe waiting until Friday or so to start. That way you get folks joining and make sure everyone understands the rules.

Worst case, I'll delay it so it starts Wednesday and the Final Day 3 will be Friday.

Very few trades occur prior to free agency being shaken out (unless someone needs to clear cap space which is less of an issue) because people will go for their free agents first. Should there just be a final day for trades once the free agency all shakes out?

Yeah I'm worried about actual transactions in real life persuading people of value/where guys should sign, but if this group is mature enough to not let that get in the way I can make this a 5 day project from Wednesday-Sunday. Tonight and tomorrow could be used to fill the GM spots and ensure every one understands the rules then Wednesday morning can start the off-season with final rosters being submitted by Sunday night.

I don't necessarily want the job, but there's something that just feels really wrong about letting a Laker fan do it.

He seems okay taking Minnesota instead if you want to take Denver.

Yeah, I wasn't sure I wanted to do the Suns, but seeing a Lakers fan mention doing the Suns, quickly made met step forward to say "I'll take it!"

I was mostly joking but the reality is that if I did it, it would be very boring: the team is fine as is for the most part and I don't want to make a hasty move chasing FA's or making trades in hopes of making the playoffs. Go in as a lottery team again next year and make the real push in 2017.

So he can go for it if he has a much better idea.

I would be honored to be NeO for a week... If no one better comes along, I'll represent the Blazers.

Honestly, boring isn't bad in this project for me. I want realistic. I would rather some one have the same 15 players they started with than 15 totally different players than they started with of the two extremes. Like I said this isn't some fantasy GM league where you trade as many big names as possible to get the best team. I want teams that will reflect what could actually happen. Let me know if you want it or not.

I'm expecting each day to close out at 10:00 PM ET or 11:00 PM ET (leaning towards 11 now, though) with it running Wednesday morning to Sunday night. You think you would be too busy to give it a fair shot or will you be available? As a Knicks fan myself, I would rather you do the Knicks as one of the more knowledgeable and realistic fans we have on these boards.

I'm not even sure when the deadline is for a team to decide on team options, but obviously this has to be before free agency I would think. If that's the case, maybe tomorrow you can at least find out which team options were picked up or declined. I know there was an earlier deadline for guys currently on rookie contracts, but there are other team options out there that haven't been picked up yet, and these guys are not on any free agent list. If these additional team options have a deadline before free agency, maybe this is something we could do tomorrow.

It might be helpful to have them all summarized on a single post so we all have one place to go look in the thread? Sportscrazy would it make sense to have you collate these together and post it as a single post for everyone to reference? Would it make sense to send it to you via PM?

I assume we would post these pitches to you via PM? Would it then make sense to post the winning pitch for each FA that signs? I thought this might make sense since teams generally don't know the other team's pitches until the deal is signed and the details leak out.

I think for entertainment purposes, it would be more fun to show your pitches and trade negotiations right in the thread. You could counter-point some of the pitches, compete with the salary offer, etc. I know that in real life there isn't this kind of access behind the scenes, but there's also million dollar jobs at stake if you mess up negotiations. To make it more entertaining, I think it's best to have free agent bidding wars and trade negotiations right in the thread so other posters can jump in and try to beat the trade offer, free agent offer, etc.
