I know I am one of the more "unrealistic " twolves posters. But could do this. I think I may have enough free time to do it. Does sound fun to just read if someone else has more time or is more of who U want for this game. So my hat is thrown out there.

How well can you channel your inner Tom Thibodeau? If you think you could mock his style without doing anything over the top unrealistic, you can have the T'Wolves.

Re: Post-Draft Mock Off-Season (GM Your Favorite Team)
I take it the free agent pitches are done via PM? If you are acting as a player's agent, there are many ways to go about negotiating these deals, so make sure to consider that. I may PM you some hypotheticals.
For example, many free agents may really want to stay with their team, like, say, Marvin Williams. If someone else makes a good pitch, who knows if he would give Charlotte the option to match it before making the ultimate decision. I'm sure a lot of situations will play out like this in the real world.

I think I'm going to have the free agent negotiations and trade negotiations take place right in the thread with me chiming in via PM to the GM's as the agent to guide specific situations (ie. Marvin Williams hoping Charlotte beats the best offer else where for example, whether or not KD will sign with the Warriors and they need to create MAX cap space or not, etc.) I think the reason for the negotiations being open in the thread is to make it entertaining for those not involved. Like I said, this isn't a million dollar business where a team is paying you a lot of money to be their GM, I think it's best to keep it fun and realistic yet entertaining so those not involved in this having a back stage pass to negotiations makes it more entertaining and honest IMO.

If no other Pacers fans want in, I'll take Indy. Honestly not much to do though since Bird did all the heavy lifting already.
A quick question though for sportscrazy, would you also the final say on non-FA and non-GM type things, such as if whoevers doing NY agrees to a Melo trade would you have the final call on him declining to use his NTC? I mainly ask because it seems like Bird will be trying to use cap space from this offseason to sign Teague to an extension.

That will make it more entertaining that's for sure, but it will likely result in bidding wars.

I think it will more accurately reflect the trade value of different players, more accurately reflect how crazy salaries are going to get in this raised cap and put more strategy into each teams thought process because if you outbid every one for Player X, but have other holes to fill, you could put yourself in a tight spot considering we are still using the salary cap.

I feel I could mock his style with a mix of what other twolves fans need. I would like to think thibs is reinventing himself along with the new job. Not just same old thibs.

I assume we would post these pitches to you via PM? Would it then make sense to post the winning pitch for each FA that signs? I thought this might make sense since teams generally don't know the other team's pitches until the deal is signed and the details leak out.
I think for entertainment purposes, it would be more fun to show your pitches and trade negotiations right in the thread. You could counter-point some of the pitches, compete with the salary offer, etc. I know that in real life there isn't this kind of access behind the scenes, but there's also million dollar jobs at stake if you mess up negotiations. To make it more entertaining, I think it's best to have free agent bidding wars and trade negotiations right in the thread so other posters can jump in and try to beat the trade offer, free agent offer, etc.
Sounds good to me, I was just spit-balling

Re: Post-Draft Mock Off-Season (GM Your Favorite Team)
Just a quick note. One of the posters I'm trying to recruit via PM asked what the end goal is and if it's just to put together the best 15 man roster possible?
My response:
The end goal is to most accurately reflect your teams goals this off-season. The best 15 man roster may be Golden State's goal, but Orlando's goal may be to get to the playoffs without jeopardizing their future youth and cap flexibility. The Knicks for example may be better off taking on expiring contracts (Jodie Meeks, Joakim Noah overpaid on a 1 year deal, etc.) to build next year rather than overpay free agents (Kent Bazemore, etc.) just to have "the best 15 man roster possible". Another team's goal may be to tank altogether. Each end goal is individual to each team. I want fans that have a good realistic grasp on what their team will try to accomplish this off-season, not necessarily trade out all of your players to get "the best 15 man roster possible".

Do you still only have like 12 or so owners? Are you asking on team forums? I can try and help you recruit if you'd like.

The hard thing is that it is tough to know because McDonough is SO tight lipped and nothing leaks any more. For example no one had a clue they were going to ink Tyson and bring him to a meeting to pitch Aldridge last year after Aldridge had said if someone gets Chandler, they will have an advantage in negotiations (or something along those lines). They must make a good pitch too considering he was wavering and Pop was so worried he made a second visit and it took a last minute convincing by Ime Udoka..
When Aldridge’s free agency meetings in Los Angeles had all ended and the time had arrived to clear his head on a flight back to his hometown of Dallas, Udoka – who was part of the Spurs’ Popovich-led contingent on the Hollywood scene – played the part of closer and made a final pitch at 30,000 feet. To hear Aldridge tell the story, he may be in Phoenix right about now if not for Udoka’s ability to paint a promising picture about life with the Spurs.

It wasn't the first meeting, and it wasn't the second talk with Pop. According to an interview with Sam Amick of USA Today, LaMarcus Aldridge wasn't sold on signing with the Spurs until after he had met with all of the teams and was ready to return to Texas. Ime Udoka, who had grown close to Aldridge when they played together in 2006-07, shared a flight with the free agent and took the time to answer any questions he had.
In Aldridge's words:
"So we rode ... and talked the whole flight. ... and he was just telling me, ‘We need a guy to score down there. Tim (Duncan) is older, and we need a guy to command a double team down there.' So I was like, ‘Maybe I'm not a Spur, because I've been averaging 23 (points per game) for the last three to four years, and maybe I don't fit into y'all's system of let's all average 17 (points per game).' And he was like, ‘No, we're not trying to change who you are and make you average 16 or 17. We want you to be you...' He kind of reaffirmed that they didn't want to change me, and that who I am is ok."

I guess I can give the Grizzlies a try. Since I'm virtually the only Grizzfan to my knowledge that post here and there on this forum.

As long as you have a realistic grasp and consistent vision, I think this will be fun. Phoenix could go two ways right now, trade the vets and build around the young guys or build to win sooner than later. I think as long as it's consistent, it will be a good vision either way even if it's not the end game the team actually pursues in real life.

I'll give it whirl if no other celtics posters are into it. Fair warning though...It s a busy week at work, demanding Toddler wants me to finish building her playhouse (which is #1 priority), and I am kinda Lazy. So I would guess another Boston guy could provide a little better product but I will if no other takers

I will continue to look, but keep you in mind as a last resort since you were honest with your schedule conflict.
(..hopefully if you get selected your free agent pitches are better than your request to be the GM haha j/k)
