Just look into the twitter account a little deeper. Just seems totally fake. I think I even saw a few Laker tweets in that media search. Just seems like a Laker fan troll job.

I mean, a lot of reporters and blogs have run with it which just tells you the perception of Whiteside when people think that's something he would actually do.

I remember when using the internet as a source was frowned upon and discouraged because you couldn't verify the accuracy. That is what I was taught in school anyway some 20 years ago.

Now reporters just report rumors they see on twitter.....doesn't even matter if its true or not. If twitter says it, it must be reported. :/

He's likely gone. It's no secret the HEAT are going after KD, and Whiteside wants a fat paycheck. He fits in nicely with that young Lakers core out there, and he'll have a fresh new coaching staff with Luke Walton to work with. And then there's the prospect of being a highly-paid starting center for the Los Angeles Lakers...in LOS ANGELES. Money isn't an option for them. Whiteside was practically bagging groceries three years ago. Now he's on the verge of $100 million.

I wouldn't blame him if he skipped town for LA, but unlike LeBron's abrupt departure, it won't blindside this team. Riley has a backup plan in case Whiteside leaves, and it involves Dwight Howard: https://rjmarc.wordpress.com/2016/05/26/the-kevin-dwight-show/

After a frustrating series of stops in Los Angeles and Houston, Dwight Howard is believed to be looking for a fresh start to salvage the remaining years of his career. Pat Riley has made a career out of reclamation projects. He’s worked magic with John Starks, Mourning, P.J. Brown, Ike Austin, Lamar Odom, Chris Andersen, and many more players. You could easily argue that this is taking place right now with Whiteside. You have to think this is something being considered in Riley’s Situation Room.

Cheap blog post plug aside, add him to a potential KD pitch and suddenly you have a terrifying-looking team that doesn't have to sacrifice either Justise Winslow, Josh Richardson, or Tyler Johnson. That team likely makes Luol Deng and Joe Johnson more willing to take a pay cut.

A lineup of Dragic/Wade/Durant/Bosh/Howard brings you to the NBA Finals and beyond.

People are creating more fake Twitter DMs of players and these are great:

situation isnt as bad as some think, my real wish is get whiteside for number one draft picks. sign and trade, get us 3 first round draft picks ( 2017, 2019, 2021).I dont think whiteside is the player that would make a team instant contender , those draft picks could end up top 5 picks in the future

I'm having a hard time seeing that deal happen. Essentially shipping Whiteside off to a team for something that valuable would be a runaway deal for the HEAT, because it likely leaves them with enough cap space to sign a replacement center (Dwight/Horford?) while also resurrecting their future. I can't, for the life of me, see Whiteside going ANYWHERE for that value. You MAYBE make that deal for someone like a Shaq or LeBron. You certainly don't do that for Hassan Whiteside.

i think pat already told him what he'd offer and he accepted but can't say officially. which is why he said he'll have it wrapped up early. though he shouldn't be saying that at all too keep up appearances lol

Howard wants to get paid. His contract even on a discount would most likely be more expensive than Whiteside on a Max deal.

So taking a more expensive and older center as the backup plan? and KD with a max contract and we literally have no money for Wade/Deng/JJ. Unless we are expecting Wade to take the vet min, Deng to take the vet min and JJ to take the vet. Heck lets say we trade Dragic for free and take on no salary, we still wouldnt have enough to sign Wade/Deng/JJ.

Why the hell would Whiteside go to a high tax state to play with a bunch of kids in an offense that all but ignores the C on the 2nd best team in its own city? That makes no sense. If Whiteside plays in California next season, it will be with the Warriors ... and they'll never have to worry about Kyrie Irving again.

Ill tell you this Riley will offer the max to Whiteside. If he doesn't sign it's on Whiteside. Riley does not let bugs go easy and we have a young one instead of a declining one. Riley is going to pitch taking care if him for the rest of his life and will use Haslam as an example of Riley taking care of you at the end of your career. That might mean enough for Whiteside to stay.
1. Herro 2. Bol Bol 3. Seko 4. Bruno
unless we trade up for Barrett or trade down for PJ Washington

UD is actually a horrible example. UD has sacrificed at least 15 million in the span of his tenure here to stay here. That's not taking care of a player. Zo might be a better example but even Zo left for more money and what he felt was a better opportunity.

UD would've been traded 3 or 4 times over had he signed elsewhere in 2010.

lol no team with cap space is going to give up anything for an unrestricted free agent. Heat doesn't even have his bird rights.
