Sean McCorkle on MMARoasted a couple weeks back. Lotsa fun stories. Pretty great.

Bubba Jenkins lets it slip that he juices, though. McCorkle was describing being on HGH and steroids while on a plane. I can't remember Bubba's phrasing but he expressed sympathy with traveling while on steroids that suggested he knew all about the stresses.

Edit: "let it slip" is too strong a phrasing. But he had suspicious level of insight. Bellator. How often do dudes get busted? Schlemenko. That "Rhino" meathead. A lot of dudes slip the net, that's for sure.

Hit and run makes it sound less nefarious than it really was. That was murder. They ran him down because of their prior altercation. I guess that's what he got for being too nice and not imposing his physical and technical superiority of being a big UFC fighter.

That's pretty unique for major MMA. You hear stories of them being the aggressors (Thiago Silva, Josh Grispi, Joe Son, etc.), and an eerie number of them have died early lately, but not them being murdered. Normally people have the good sense to stay away or get shut down quickly. Here they had the assistance of a 3-ton wad of metal. But it's going to cost them their lives too, I hope. Not going to bring Jimmo back though. RIP.

Oh yeah, mccorkle has talked to mitrione about his bellator pay, said he couldn't even believe the number it was so high.

Carlos Condit vs. Demian Maia set. What I was thinking should happen actuually. Maia deserves a title eliminator (Wonderboy will, and should, get the next shot) and Carlos was the only worth guy available.

That's so messed up. It's easy to say reteospectively, it's his fault for stepping out and putting himself in a position to get hurt but it's hard to ignore the fact that if he had stayed in his car, this may not have happened. For sure not victim blaming here but I think there's a lesson to be learnt here. No matter how bad ass you think you are (or actually are, in his case as a legit MMA fighter), you never know if that person you're confronting is crazy enough to run you over, pull a gun or some other weapon on you.

Rampage said he bellator takes better care of him than the ufc did. Also, this isn't a quote, just my impression, but based on Chuck Mindenhall's description of Coker on saturday night, sounds like he is salivating to get Rory.

202 is looking like a sick card. It's stacked with top 10 talent and a number of bouts that could be title eliminators.

People are crazy dude. I could be Brock freakin' Lesnar and unless somebody is directly threatening my wife or my son, no way I'd ever get in a confrontation like that with anyone. Never know when someone is going to stab you or run you over with a f*ckin car. You could have all the jiu jitsu or hands in the world and that crap don't matter.

They found the truck, surprisingly. It's law in Edmonton to buy a giant-ass truck and it makes your penis larger if you put a bunch of pointless accessories on it.

Never engage randoms on the street, as a general rule, but two hopped up rig dudes, at night, alcohol definitely a factor... that's never going to end well.

Frank Mir is asking for a release from his UFC contract because it forbids him from announcing / analyzing (for other orgs/not Fox presumably).

Is that true? Mike Chiesa just announced Venator a few weeks back.

They might not have thought to put that clause in Chiesa's contract (or he negotiated it out).

I'm sure Mir is being offered much higher visbility gigs than Venator, some of which will probably be more of a conflict with the UFC.

Bruce Buffer is just such a dbag, so cringeworthy. On the mmahour, mid-interview has already reminded Ariel 4 times that "the show isn't about me". No sh*t dude lol.

K, he just called Ariel "bro", and he was serious about it.

edit: We have a second "bro".

Finally listened to that Mir interview, my gut was that the dude is hard up for money. He pretty much confirmed that. Said he looked at his bank account and it didn't add up since he had kids, etc. Even had a gofundme to buy mics for his podcast? He's made other comments like this in the past, implying that he would have to get a normal job if he stopped fighting.

Really sad for a two time HW champion who has probably headlined a dozen events at this point and has fought three times in the last year, headlining two of those. Also headlined the biggest ufc event of all time at UFC100. Not even necessarily blaming fighter pay here, although that is certainly part of it. I'm guess there is a huge personal responsibility component of this as well. He said he gave his wife lots of money to spend during the day so that she wouldn't be upset when he went to the gym to train. lol.

Tidbits from Schaub.

Talk of the wars Cormier and Cain have at AKA, Schaub revealed that it's Cain who apparently dominates. I perhaps feel better that DC had to leave the division.

Schaub talking about how competitive Cruz is. Was Go-Karting with him, said he saw him off to the side psyching himself up with, "They don't want you to win, they don't want you to be the champ." About the Go Karting race! Also, heard that Dom can be a tyrant with underlings on the Fox set. Greatness don't come from well-adjusted, I guess. Shades of Jordan.

If police had cause to shoot any unarmed individual in America, it would be Brennan Ward. But in this instance, they showed great restraint.

http://www.bloodyelbow.com/2016/7/11/12123330/bellator-brennan-ward-arrested-charged-allegedly-threatening-police-crime-mma-news

According to the report this (along with the woman’s claims that Ward had struck her) prompted the officers to arrest Ward as well. The report states that after this Ward “became increasingly belligerent and angry”, culminating in the Bellator veteran adopting a “fighting stance.” Two more officers arrived on the scene and were there to hear Ward allegedly say, “If I had to fight you all one on one, I would destroy you.”

The officers then attempted to subdue Ward, by grabbing a hold of his wrist and placing it behind his back. The officers were then able to take Ward to the ground where some scuffling ensued. During this time Ward is alleged to have threatened to break one of the arresting officer’s arms. The officers were eventually able to cuff Ward, who - according to the police report - continued to lash out at them using his feet. The report also states that at this point Ward made more threats against the officers, allegedly stating the following: “I know your kids and I am going to hurt them.”

Ward was eventually placed in a police cruiser, where he reportedly thrashed around to the point of causing himself injuries to his face. Ward was then placed in a cell, where he allegedly continued to scream profanities and threaten the families of the arresting officers. The report also states that Ward then urinated “all over” the door and floor of his cell.

Interesting piece on Oleinik and how the used MMA as a cover for militant political activity in Ukraine.
