Both are from Cameroon, and know each other, but the biggest help will be Mbah a Moute's defensive IQ. He could really teach Siakam, while being able to step in as a back-up PF.

Wasn't Mbah a Moute credited with finding Siakam in the first place at a basketball without borders camp? As I understand it he's already had plenty of mentorship time with Siakam. Doesn't mean that signing him would be a bad thing, but Siakam is starting to stand up on his own, too. I think he's going to surprise. What will be important is having a professional, inviting and friendly environment for him and coaches that find a role for him that plays to his strengths, but that's the case for basically every prospect ever.

I wouldn't mind Mbah a Moute as maybe an assistant coach, but I don't think Siakam needs that kind of hand holding, and I also don't think Mbah a Moute is an NBA player at this stage.

I hear what you are saying about Siakam not needing the guidance per se, but I do like Mbah a Moute. He stepped up during the time Blake Griffin went down and even started at small forward. As a back-up or third string SF/PF you could do worse. He is kinf od like a smart vet ala Scola and Hayes.

“Luc is the most under-appreciated person on our team, in all honesty,” Paul said Friday. “We used to talk about DJ all the time, but everyone sees what DJ does on a nightly basis.

“But Luc is the guy. He does everything. He defends. He cuts. He does everything a coach would appreciate but a fan has no idea that he’s doing...”

Since inserting him into the starting lineup, the Clippers are 15-5 – the third-best record in the NBA. They have the fifth-best offense in the NBA during that stretch and the sixth-best defense.

“I’ve always thought it’s easier for guys who are defensive-minded to accept their roles, because that’s what they do. I think Luc does that well.”

Opponents are shooting 38.6 percent with Mbah a Moute defending – second best on the Clippers behind J.J. Redick.

He's from the same city in Cameroon my GF grew up in. We have ourselves a new household favourite. Was Chuck Hayes, then BB8, now Paskal.

Pretty high praise from Floyd, who would know a thing or two about NBA comps. Don't want to jinx the kid, but Floyd mentioned him in the same breadth as Durant and some others who put up monster numbers against him. Called him an NBA player :o

Those poor kids flanking their coach basically had to listen to him say they were completely ineffective against Pascal

I'll admit I didn't know much about Siakam when he was announced, but I'm falling in love with this pick. Dude's a beast AND he has some game too.

He's a first round pick and follows the rookie scale contract. So yeah he's pretty much signed

I think he means that he wonders if he's a stash in Europe candidate. Once you sign a rookie he's on the roster. I guess they have to decide right before summer league starts.

my assumption was that b/c we kinda reached for him, he may have agreed to play 1 year in the d league at 25k. but it seems he will be on he roster.

His number jump from the last two seasons is pretty significant and encouraging. This guy is now a full-time basketball player, which is quite exciting. Hopefully he continues to improve to be a quality role player for the Raps.

I hope he's on the roster this season. By all accounts he sounds NBA ready.

Ya, he'll either play here with his rookie contract or play overseas for a year first.

Don't forget about the Josh Huestis situation from 2014.

I think we were going to do that with Bruno, but the 905 team was delayed by a year.

Wow, I just finished watching Deyona Davis' welcome presser to Memphis, and the more I hear that guy talk is the more I'm thankful we opted for Siakam instead.

yup, this was the example im thinking of.

it requries alot from the player but since him/huestis were seen as reachs, they prob realize its best to take a hit for 1 yr to get the next 2 years guaranteed.

You just made a one-off comment about how a kid who scores efficiently in quantity, rebounds well, blocks shots, defends, doesn't turn the ball over much, and generally plays pretty smart basketball on both ends of the floor, has a low BBall IQ, while giving absolutely no explanation as to why you think this to be the case. What are people supposed to think? What kind of value did you wrongly think you were adding?

It doesn't mean he's racist, and he doesn't owe anyone a long explanation to why he doesn't like him. I like Pascal, but I'm not going to write out a wall of text to why.

Medic doesn't like Pascal, that's fine, he will !
