I'm picking up Morrow's option and letting Waiters test RFA.

I'd offer Philly a sign and trade of Waiters for Hollis Thompson at whatever price they'd get Dion for.

I'd offer Phoenix Chandler and Tucker for Kanter.

Renouncing Foye's rights should take the salary cap space to approximately 8 mil over the cap.

I'd also offer the MLE to Darrell Arthur or Trevor Booker if either are available.

Finally I'd inquire with Charlotte if they'd have interest in a sign and trade for Marv.

When is the earliest trades can be executed? Tomorrow?

12:01 midnight (9:01pm in LA) I place a call on Hassan Whiteside's agent.

Pitch:

The Lakers are an up and coming team needing help in talent upgrade. We are young, full of potential and full of high-end talent. But our talents are more on the back court thus we need someone who can be the face of the franchise at center. We've always had great centers as part of our winning tradition, and we think you (HW) are the best free agent center out there.

With Luke Walton on board, he can give you, from the coaching standpoint, guaranteed starting position, guaranteed 32mpg barring foul trouble or injury, and guaranteed post touches. The actual gameplan will be hatched when we are more or less done with Free Agency, but right off the bat, we know what our plan is with you. You will be THE man in the middle.

Contract-wise, we are offering you the full max, as provided by the CBA. 4 years (max) 4.5% raises (max) and 25% of the new salary cap.

The Lakers are a very proud franchise and we've been in the worst stretch of our history. Frankly, it cannot get any worse. We are done with losing 50 games per season. The addition of Mr. Whiteside will assuredly propel our team to the playoffs when all is said and done. There will be room to grow, trades to make and free agents to add with our massive cap. Its a good opportunity for Hassan to be the next great Laker big man. He can lead the team that is full of youngsters.

Question, is my salary space including cap holds? Because the Knicks renounce everyone other than the two youngins on QO's.

Edit: Sorry, posting in the other thread.
Rest in peace Mamba. There'll never be another Kobe.

From what I understand, teams can carry more than 15 players in the off season but have to be down to 15 by the time the season starts. Is this correct?

Yes, that's true as training camp squads routinely have above 20 players and they are all under contracts, even if its $10k guarantee only.

Yep, the 12 to 15 man roster needs to be in by the end of Day 5

So is day 5 the end of the offseason in this scenario as if the season starts the next day?

Yeah, the season will start after Day 5 so opening rosters will be the result.

I'd like to offer Goran Dragic to the Sacramento Kings for Willy Cauley-Stein, Ben McLemore, Darren Collison, and a future 1st round pick.

I'd also offer Dragic to Minnesota for the rights to Kirs Dunn, Gorgi Dieng, and MIN's 2017 1st rd pick (top 7 protected)

Sign Delly 4/27, Jared Dudley 3/21, Brandon Bass to 3/18. Re-sign Miles Plumlee to 3/24.
Trade Monroe & MCW for Allen Crabbe (S&T 4/45).
Let all expiring contracts (besides Plumlee) walk.

Delly / Ennis / Brogdon
Middleton / Crabbe / Vaughn
Jabari / Dudley / Inglis
Giannis / Bass / JOB
Henson / Plumlee / Maker

If Giannis, Jabari, and Middleton progress like I think they well and a couple of other young guys (Ennis, Vaughn) can become at least rotation players, I really like that team.
