Hard to say. Some team with young players and money to burn might look at his energy and see him as a good example and give him a big contract. The Cavs may see that he played his way out of the rotation in the Finals (after his magic the year before) and wonder whether he's worth keeping. OTOH, Gilbert may simply say to bring everyone back if possible and pay whatever cost is on the table. Or, the money for his contract might just go to JR.

That was borderline dirty

People are so silly about how Delly plays. Borderline dirty? You mean no dirty at all.

You are actually stating that Dellavadova was playing dirty and insodoing he injured your players.
Which he's famous for. He was diving at Curry's knees/ankles non stop (just less success. Easily voted "most Dirty". They just made it a flagrant to jump on someones back at the FT lane...because of Delly.

So, you are thinking that the jumping on his back was dirty too? IMO he was just trying to make sure folks knew he was fouling. There was no way he'd hurt someone on those plays at all. It was more silly than anything else.

I think a team with a high usage player that is looking for someone to play the 3D role could over-pay for Delly.

I personally think that $5-$8 mil mark is likely appropriate in today's NBA. But, as we saw with Gary Neal, George Hill, and we are seeing with Patty Mills. Backup PGs from strong system teams get bonus value. It would not surprise me to see a team put a $10million dollar offer on the table so that the Cavs do not consider matching.

Houston, Sacramento, Miami (if they move on from Dragic), come to mind...

I'm so sick of arguing with people who think Dellavedova is a dirty player. Blatt gave a really nice speech praising Delly and basically calling pathetic all the people who claim he's a dirty player. He's just tougher and more driven than almost anyone else in the league and that makes people jealous.

The only questionable thing he's done is leg locking Taj Gibson after Taj pushed him to the floor and fell on him. And the leg lock isn't dirty, it's just unsportsmanlike. There was no risk of injury, it was just meant to irritate him.

I'm gonna miss him, but it was the right move to not match Bucks' $38.4M/4 yr as long as we get a backup PG that can score. I just hope we don't keep Mo as our primary backup, Delly is far better.

Yeah, I agree it was right decision to let Delly go. I don't think he was dirty, but we will see what this board thinks the first time he dives under Kyrie in a game. We knew the contracts were going to be insane, but I am still shaking my head at some of the money being thrown around. Good luck to Delly and Mozgov.

Its beyond stupid to let him go for 9.5 mil.

Do people not see the contracts going in the nba and understand how much its gonna cost for any rotational player? Mo is as good as done. We're just gonna lose depth to save money and right now its so hard to pick up the RJ or mo type guys on vet min cheap deals.

Replacing a guy equal of dellys value is only gonna cost more and more in the next year or so. We certainly wont do so for 9.5 mil.

The first couple of pages of this thread were littered with people saying TT was overpaid. Have any of them admitted they were wrong yet? You can say whatever you want about his skills... the Cavs do not have a title without him. Ed Davis just wouldn't have done it.

I agree with most on Delly. It's the right move letting him go. I think we'll miss his distribution and mid range driving floaters off the bench though. He was an undrafted signee though. While that doesn't matter now, it sort of does say that you can find that type of player again even with very limited assets.
Kyrie most of the time when he shoots starts with the ball and then dribbles a while then shoots. -statistical analysis from a 'longtime' Cavs fan (June 2017)

With Griffin turning Delly leaving into a trade exception that has been used for Dunleavy it is not a total loss, not that I am a Dunleavy fan in any way, but we still have the full exception from the Andy trade which is around $9.8 mil. I guess I should just start a Griffin appreciation thread. Anyhow I am happy for Delly getting paid, and wish him well.

You really have to be a moron to believe anything that you just said.

He dove for the ball you idiots

 Yeah just like Lebron did here, right?

ALL BALL BABY!!! ALL BALL!!

I'm not sure what your point was here. This might have been a (uncalled) foul, but it wasn't dirty, LeBron didn't attempt to injure anyone. So, I really don't see what the argument you were trying to make would be.
