I have no idea where he's getting that from.

They're not besties, I don't think, but I've never heard anything to indicate bad blood.

Still seems crazy to me that Ibaka is on the Magic. I'm very excited to watch him play next year, and hopefully for many more after that. He seems to have a good attitude about the whole thing and I really do think he's going to embrace this new start with Orlando.

Players don't have to be best friends to play on the same team. The modern league seems to make it seem like it matters that the players are friends, like yay, you're my bestie! on and off the court. These are professionals. You don't have to be best friends and hang out with the people you work with. Ugh...

I only caught the tail end. Gotta watch the replay.... but I'll put money down that any dumb question was asked by Ping, Schmitz or Bianchi.

Yeah that's what I was thinking as well. I mean you would know better than us, but I've never heard about them not liking each other. From Serge's reaction I think it was the first he was hearing about it as well. Still though, I don't care how their relationship is, that's an amateur and unprofessional thing to ask. He should get his access taken away just for being an idiot.

I actually have no clue who it was. Didn't seem like one of the regular guys.

Serge was a little unhappy about his role in the offense. Originally coming into the year, he thought he'd have a larger role. But Donovan's schemes pretty much necessitate a passing big at the 4 or 5, maybe even both, and Serge is more or less a 6'10" Danny Green.

The Don adjusted on the fly to accommodate Serge and Robes, who are not great passers, but it's definitely not his preference. Part of the reason we're going after Horford. He used KD at the nail making reads more often instead, but it's not optimal when you can't swing it easily through 2, maybe 3 of your players. Part of the reason for KD and Russ's heavy usage.

But apparently there was a little behind-the-scenes friction with the FO from Serge because of that. He wanted more shots, more touches, and apparently this was even pre-trade-deadline—we've been making him available since then. In the locker room, though, it was fine. According to all the beat guys, Serge was a consummate professional through the whole thing. The only real behind-the-scenes friction I've ever heard of is when Reggie blew up the locker room to get himself traded. Maybe Carlesimo waaaaaaay early in the piece. A little with Russ/KD in 2011.

You're getting a pro's pro, a terrific human being, and a hard worker. Take care of him.

I think we both have to admit that after all of the one sided hopes of Serge to the Magic trade ideas discussed in the Trades and Transactions Forum that it's a little eerie seeing it in reality. I don't know how many times OKC fans rebuffed ORL fans in those talks, but it had been numerous. Our biggest fear now is being able to retain him.

And pretty close to the exact deal that's been discussed.

My main concern was with fit, not value (as was most people's on our side), and the fact that we're opening another hole at PF to fill. But the value in return was good, and Dipo's a little better shooter and (apparently, according to Tom Crean) off-ball guy than I expected. And Dion is likely gone, and since Ibaka went out we have space to pursue Horford.

Context is key.

I was watching at Rob while Serge was answering if he will sign extension next summer and to me it looked like Rob was happy that Serge isn't revealing their real plans. Maybe Rob talked to Serge even before trade (he knows him from before he got to NBA) and agreed that extension will be made but can't reveal that since it is against the rules.

...and I guarant-damn-tee that you will fall in love with Dipo really quickly. He's a future All-Star.

Future allstar? Lets not get carried away. The guy can't finish, shies from contact and is not a good outside shooter.

So long as he's better at all those things than Dion (and he is), I don't care.

But I don't want to take your thread off track. Hope Serge does well for you guys.
