Re: Portland - 2016 Offseason
Now time to give out some hope even just a little -- Whiteside update via a Miami paper -- Link below and the opening paragraph and its a good read.
-- With free agency starting at 12:01 a.m. tonight, Hassan Whiteside has scheduled meetings with the Dallas Mavericks and Portland Trail Blazers in the next 24 to 36 hours, and the Heat also very much remains in play for his services, according to someone with direct knowledge. ---

Will Lillard and CJ be in these meetings like other teams' stars?

It's not over yet. Hassan could still sign with us. Wouldn't meet with us if he wasn't interested.

But Players and their agents don't run tight ships, at all, and neither do many other teams. Yet, we've heard almost nothing about Portland meeting with players and agents. No rumors. Does that mean the Blazers haven't even got out on the dance floor yet?
no. the Aminu signing came out of nowhere. I'm sure Olshey is working the phones. I just feel whatever move he makes isn't going to be one of these big time free agent signings like everyone is expecting. instead, it will be some second tier role player likely on a relatively good contract.

Definitely starting to feel like Portland is in for yet another dose of "We can't get no FA love" this summer.

Re: Portland - 2016 Offseason
Why sigh? If Parsons is healthy he is a better version of Batum but without the defense. Would be a perfect 3rd piece and would solve our need for a wing playmaker and additional shot creator.
I can see Parsons and a Howard as a great FA outcome. Would have to let go of Crabbe and others to do it though.

Re: Portland - 2016 Offseason
I wonder if Parsons could convince Howard to come to Portland as well... If Portland came out of this offseason with Parsons and Howard, I would be okay with that. If it's just Parsons, I'll be upset.

Healthy? Hmmm, from a late March article
"A Monday MRI revealed that Chandler Parsons has torn his meniscus in his right knee, reports ESPN.com's Tim MacMahon. The result is likely to be season-ending arthroscopic knee surgery. This is the same knee on which Parsons had hybrid microfracture surgery over the summer. Parsons' Dallas Mavericks are in the middle of a heated battle for one of the last playoff spots in the West. Parsons is also eligible to become an unrestricted free agent on July 1.
Parsons' right knee has been problematic since last spring, when he missed the final two weeks and 12 of the last 24 games of the regular season due to soreness. He played 37 minutes in Game 1 of the Mavs' first-round series against Houston, then missed the rest of the series because of the knee. The Mavericks announced he'd have minor offseason knee surgery. It later became known that he had hybrid microfracture surgery, a far more invasive, intensive procedure that ended up costing Parsons all of training camp and preseason. Parsons was on a minutes limit for much of November."

Yep, and the meeting's in LA, which makes it unlikely that Dame will be attending the meeting with Whiteside in NY.

Is there any way financially, we can get Parsons AND Whiteside?
Return to Portland Trail Blazers
