If he's healthy he is worth it. Question if he is healthy but a great skillset that fits.

Sure, we just have to renounce all our free agents.

Maybe if we dump or S&T Ed Davis for one of them?

Yeah, we would be pretty bare bones at that point.
Lillard
McCollum
Parsons
Aminu
Whiteside
and nothing for a bench really... we would still have Plumlee and Vonleh

If we rescind all of our cap holdings, we could - but, that would mean no Crabbe, Leonard, Harkless, or Henderson.
We could also make some moves to clear more cap...

Anyways, the rumours are certainly flying now. I guess if Olshey is looking at Parsons he's decided on Aminu as the starting power forward, which I felt he played well in the playoffs.
It's certainly fun to read all the rumours but don't bite in hook, line, and sinker. Just take them for what it's worth. I wonder if Olshey flies around in Paul Allens private jet( I'm assuming he has one). That way he can hop from one free agent to another faster( it sounds good at least).

I thought Parsons was recruiting Whiteside to Dallas. None of this makes sense.

Crabbes cap hold is tiny. They'd probably move one of Aminu/Davis in that case. You could do 23.5M for Whiteside and a slightly less than max 20M for Parsons at that point.

Re: Portland - 2016 Offseason
Parsons actually played close to as many games as AD did the past 2 years, more than him the past 4. I am not a doctor, so as far as basketball wise getting a guy who looks like a 20ppg scorer with passing and great 3pt shooting. That would be a steal.
Like trading capspace for Gordon Hayward good.
As far as center goes DH seems unlikely if we get Parsons, would leave us bare. Maybe a more bargain center with good rim protection. Like Hibbert, wasn't very good in LA but who is. Resign Crabbe probably have to let Harkless walk in this scenario if he gets too expensive, Plumlee becomes expendable here cause of Parsons' passing.
Is Mem and us the only teams in the running for Parsons?

if I was more clever, I'd come up with something witty about how the Mavs overpaid a recovering from injury player from us (Wes Mathews) last year, and now we're doing the same to them this year. but I'm not, so... yeah.

If we renounce everyone but Crabbe trade Plumlee and Pat, waive Luis we can sign both Whiteside and Parsons.

Re: Portland - 2016 Offseason
Whiteside and Parsons max contract both starts at 22.2 mil. If we renounce all of our FAs we have about 42.4 mil in cap space.
Getting to 44.4 would be pretty easy by trading any combination of Ed Davis, Plumlee, Vonleh. In most scenarios we could probably keep Crabbe as well.
We could also trade Davis, Plumlee, and Vonleh and renounce Crabbe & Leonard, keep Harkless. That leaves us just about right.
Tons of options to get the space needed...

Re: Portland - 2016 Offseason
Wow Parsons refused to go back to Dallas yeah, if we could get Parsons and Whiteside this would be a great free agency for the Blazers.
I mean having to get Parsons to ensure Whiteside signs with us sounds like a fine deal, it's not like Parsons is a really bad contract he could be a valuable piece off the bench, it's also kind of noteworthy that once Parsons left the Rockets they started to perform much worse overall.
This also has strong implications in the future that Portland is not some podunk little city that can't attact any free agents. I mean signing two of the more noteworthy free agents is a big deal for future acquisitions.

Re: Portland - 2016 Offseason
Neil may see how Golden State is playing, and want to assemble one hell of a small lineup...
Could see Dame, CJ, AC, Chandler, Aminu in stretches....lots of open floor/spacing, but if we learned anything, need someone to protect the rim...
If we don't get Hassan, and sounds like were no longer in running for Dwight, i'd rather keep our bigs, than get a Biyombo, Mahinmi, Ezeli type

Re: Portland - 2016 Offseason
So gutting the team to sign Parsons and Whiteside?
Sounds like y'all want to challenge the team from a few years ago with worst bench of all time. I suppose the Blazers already have Luke Babbit's replacement...
Parsons is a miss 15-20 games a season with injuries player. But I guess he's the "...best Small Forward in the NBA."
So what do the Blazers do once Lillard gets his max, Whiteside gets his max, CJ gets his near max, Parsons gets his near max?
In two years when the cap comes back down that leaves about 8 holes to fill with probably around 15 million dollars. Hands tied and Luxury tax time...
I would argue that:
Lillard/CJ
CJ/????
Parsons/????
????/????
Whiteside/????
Costing over 85 million would be a bad thing and still aren't winning a championship.

I really think teams will be rotating plays far more often with the cap going up constantly, unless you have a player on an extremely cap friendly deal like an Aminu or something you basically constantly are trading/releasing players. To make matters worse players are signing short contracts so they can re-negotiate for way more money in a few years.
