Run it back for another year, maybe give up a minor asset to get an Asik or a Chandler or a Kanter just so they have some size? I really don't know. Guessing Ainge will be actively hunting out cases of buyer's remorse at the deadline, and next year's FA class is going to be nuts.
They could do worse than just standing pat and keeping their eyes peeled. That's what I'd do if I whiffed in FA.

If there were mutual interest, it would open up a whole lot of interesting questions about Atlanta's roster moving forward.
And if Boston misses out on Horford (Hou?) and Dwight (Atl?), what on Earth do they do?
No clue. Wouldn't suprise me to see them whiff on free agency though. Honestly I think Howard is our back up plan if we lose Horford. Seems much more likely than signing both and trying to figure out what to do with 60M+ tied up in Millsap, Horford, and Howard.

Or presuming Horford signs long-term, dangling Millsap for assets and retooling around Schroder/Baze/Horford/Howard? I don't know that I like it, but could be a possibility. He's expiring and on the other side of 30, and his value now is as high as it will probably ever be.

The next time Dwain is right about something will be the first time. Obviously Parsons is gone, but Dallas isn't on target for anything.

Great news
For Philly.
This. Whiteside is the only realistic free agent that scares me going to the Lakers.

Atlanta could go in direction X, Y, or Z. There's so many options and so many unanswered questions. Hopefully we will have an idea of what our future is going to look like in the next 3-4 days.

I saw the headline for the link but didn't bother clicking on the bait. Respect. Give me a break.

No meeting with Durant, no meeting with Whiteside...
It's about what's expected, but some of the Lakers fanbase is going nuts. Shelburne yesterday was on a tear about KD specifically needing to respect the Lakers and at least give them a meeting.

On the plus side, Amin Elhassan trolled her and Cari Champion by saying that KD had a meeting at 9:01PM on July 1st with them, and that he had the itinerary.
9:01PM Pull up
9:02PM Park
9:03PM Tell the Lakers no
9:04PM Go to Katsuya

As long as it's on short-term deals, I don't hate it. There are reportedly a lot of teams offering one- or two-year overpays.

I'd assume on short contracts to help coach up the youth? Not a fan?

I mean 1 year deals are harmless (minus the draft pick damage they do if that). But I think you are going to see only the terrible terrible vets take 1 year. So instead you are really talking about 2-3 years of horrible contracts.

Jeff Green and Courtney Lee immediately come to mind. Jared Dudley and Aaron Afflalo as well (with maybe Deron Williams?).
If you guys give Joe Johnson or Eric Gordon huge deals, I admit that I will laugh at your expense.

I see. No Kevin Garnetts walking through that door. Maybe you'll get lucky. I suggested in another thread you max Conley. Might be enough to convince him.

Courtney Lee would be great. Amazing to look at him and Ryan Anderson and think they were traded for each other, and have had such great careers for guys picked where they were.
