Because the max this year will be a lot different than next years max. This will look reasonable once we see next years mega max.

Not fully convinced this split works but...

3) If its a guy worth giving a damn about, post a new thread on the signing, so we can debate it in a thread just to them.

A side effect of having max contracts instead of a free market is max contracts become a negotiating starting point for contract talks.

Nba is such a great job. Guys like bazemore want 20 mil per on potential then you get guys like Kobe getting 50/2 to reward past achievements.
