Draft salaries look very attractive now:
Imagine in the next 4 years - Buddy Hield $3m per year, Kent Bazemore $17m per year.

What would the math be if he was getting this same contract on last years salary cap?
Mozgov suffered a shoulder injury this past season, and in addition to that he's lost a ton of lateral movement. Not saying that he cannot return to form.....but there is a reason he was terrible last year, and it wasnt just because he didnt play.
Based on last years cap....Mozgov would have signed a 4/$48mil.
Noah's 4/$70mil is equal to the contract Chandler signed last year.
Knight's contract that he signed last summer would equate to a 5/$94mil with today's number.
Tristan's contract would be the same as signing someone to a 5/$110mil with today's number.
----------------------
In another year:
Chandler's contract would have been similar to signing a 4/$33mil contract in 2015
Knight's contract would have been similar to signing a 5/$44.5mil contract in 2015

I guess the Lakers FO Googled Mozgov and came to the conclusion that he is a better scorer than Kobe.

Go get Jared Dudley and Derrick Williams on the cheap two year deals. Call it a day. Bazemore please no. Barnes, no. Oh, I also guarantee we will offer Len an extension as soon as possible to try and avoid giving him the max.

If Parsons does accept the deal to Blazers, and Mavs strike out, does Dirk stay in Dallas? No way he goes to the Spurs, but Warriors could be a possibility. Or even the Thunder I imagine.

Re: The 2016 Offseason Thread (Post Draft)
IMO there are 4 types of GM's and ways they prepped for the extreme cap rising.
a.) GM's who "overpayed" at the time for good players, and/or stockpiled picks/youth. PHX/POR/BOS/ORL/PHI
b.) GM's who managed their cap so they could resign their FA's and spend a little money/make trades. OKC/SA/DEN/IND/CHA/GS/CLE/TOR/MIA/WA/IND
c.) GM's who planned to go for broke and overpay because they have a crap ton of money. LA/NY/BK/DAL
d.) GM's who didnt do a damn thing. SAC/LAC/ATL/CHI/UTA/DET/MIL/MN/NO/MEM
I think McD has planned for the next 2 years. We've stockpiled CHEAP talent, added a slew of picks, and at the same time retained PLENTY of cap space.
Boston may be the ONLY other franchise in the same position as ourselves (go-fing-figure).
A smart McD eats his pride, knowing his mistakes.....and in a another year go for broke.
Our under 26 team in a year:
Len/
Bender/Chriss
Warren
Booker/Goodwin
Bledsoe/Knight
We have the rights to all of those guys. and next offseason (if we bite our cheek for year) $45mil in cap space. We have Miami's 2018 pick, unprotected, AND Miami's 2021 unprotected first....and IMO they have lost their flare. Yes, they could turn it around, but if Florida holds true the Heat become just as irrelivant as the Marlins/Rays/Magic/Dolphins/Jags of their respective franchises.

Len will likely not accept an extension, but if anyone can do it, it will be McD.
Dudley and Williams will be looking for 10+ million a year or close to... far from cheap... Cheap is 7 million and under for veterans IMO.
The market is ridiculously inflated at the moment, its like the housing boom bubble... but this time, its for role players.

Give Len $60M / 4 years. Hopefully he agrees and we have him on board during his prime.

Re: The 2016 Offseason Thread (Post Draft)

"Timofey Mozgov (Russian: Тимофей Павлович Мозгов; IPA: [tʲɪmɐˈfʲej mɐˈzɡof], born July 16, 1986) is a Russian professional basketball player who is a free agent. He won an NBA championship with the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2016. He then left the Cavs to screw the entire Lakers franchise out of 65 million, even though he is absolute trash and did nothing to earn his ring.

It's been a great month for McDonough.
- 2 Top 10 Picks including trade of the draft.
- Ability to sell development route to ownership and fans to buy more time.
- Validated Contracts of Bledsoe, Knight, Chandler with the FA frenzy.
- Miami's starters could be gone (exc. Dragic funnily enough) with Bosh's medical, Deng FA, Whiteside FA, Wade FA when our picks are due.

This Miami situation is getting really interesting.
- Whiteside and Deng look to be gone.
- Bosh with medical issues.
- Wade delayed contract talks.
- Roster becomes Dragic, McRoberts, Winslow.
We have their:
- 2018 (top 7 protected) OR 2019 (unprotected)
- 2021 (unprotected).
Markieff Morris (and scraps) got us Marquese Chriss, who knows what Dragic might get us.

Re: The 2016 Offseason Thread (Post Draft)
Random info: Vlade Divacs stat of the week.
1 out of 80 Players from Picks 11-14 since 1997 have made All-Star.
18 out of 80 Players from Picks 7-10 since 1997 have made All-Star.
Also between 2000-2009 there were 34 All-Stars out of 100 Top 10 Picks (34%) so to get 2 All-Stars you would on average require 6 top 10 picks, which seems pretty doable over 3-4 years and more effecient than some strategies.

Everyone re-signing with their teams. Nothing exciting yet. Except the amount of money these guys are getting...

Tucker, Knight, and some draft picks to get Blake Griffin if Durant wants to sign with Clippers ... hmmm a possible one year rental. I'm not sold on it.

Len isnt getting a cent less than what Timofy did, and if he ended up taking the same contract it would be the ultimate mcd coup.
