Phil has to be smoking crack. I can understand a 2 year deal at 17 per, guys are going to get paid but 4 YEARS? He's going to be 35 by the end of that deal.

ANY amount of years at 17M is crazy....

he just dumped 40 million into rose and noah. thats 46% of their salary cap for a bum PG and a washed up broken down center

So basically, all my ideas of this FA have been dashed. I'm not SURE we're gunna whiff on any notable names. We're gunna be hunting to overpay those in the lower tier.

Guys are going to get paid man, you think these teams are going to be offering lowball contracts? I wouldn't have done that deal either but hell this is what the new landscape is

There's no way they max parsons and match on Crabbe. We need to strike. I'll overpay on young players with skills, **** it

Beal and DeRozan both are staying

this goes back to what I was saying about being grounded and realistic about our options. Guys aren't going to want to play for the Nets just because they're your favorite team, and the Nets aren't going to waste time going after guys who AREN'T INTERESTED.

Charlotte maxed out Batum at 5/120

Remember back when we were dreaming of Batum and RHJ? Good times.

Crabbe/Lin backcourt wouldn't be half bad

Agreed, but at the moment, it's looking like it's going to cost us a bit more than we previously thought. Probably 14 for Lin and 18 for Crabbe.

I like the pairing, but off the bat that's ~32mil of our 50+mil.

I think we go for it, I just hope we can also find a PF who fits

You do realize the Nets are gonna become a rotating roster right? Investing in young players means survival of fittest. I wouldn't worry about cap space because all of these players will be on attractive, tradable contracts

Would Lin be a pseudo 2 guard also? I'm still hoping we can pull a PG from Phoenix, given that they have like 4. Could a Lin-Bledsoe combo work?

Prok, it's amazing how I agree fully with you on Rose and Noah. And then I apply the same principles to Rondo and I come up with the same conclusions. Yet you vouch for him.

On the Knicks: Noah makes absolutely no sense. They were better off keeping Lopez. Rose... at least he is an expiring contract. His advanced stats are awful, but hey... I guess in a way, you can be seduced by his name and have the long shot of him playing well on a contract year, if he doesn't, he's an expiring, so not too risky.

They're also interested in Eric Gordon, who I liked to sign if he fell through the cracks and was available on a short term deal. If they sign him to a big money deal, they're really pushing their luck with so many injury hit players.

what principals are you applying?

Rose was HORRIBLE last season. like D-league level play.

Rondo posted 12/12/6/2 shot 36% from three with a higher PER, TS%, RAPM, RPM, RPM DRPM, WS, and PPP then rose and rose missed 20 games.

Rondo didn't help his team win games by not playing defense and his a malcontent, with negative attention and energy around him at all times. Some of the stats you bring up are worse than Lin or Deron Williams -- especially the one you cite the most, DRPM and even DRAPM.

I actually think he hurts an offense with his over-dribbling. And I don't see how he fits with a coach that came from a ball moving team like the Hawks. But I am kind of wanting him to sign with the Nets, because it will be interesting to watch.

The only logic is: there are no good options available in free agency. Hell, I'll be happy if the Mavs bring back Deron Williams. That says it all. At the same time, who are the teams who are going to drive up Rondo's price? If the Kings had him last year and aren't interested... who are the teams left? I can't think of many.

A lot of players seem to be re-signing with their old teams.

A Dwight Howard contract starting at $24 million is starting to look reasonable after these signings.
