An update on Day 1 of Free Agency
PG: RJ / Smith / Gbinje
I think we are done here. Nice Ish signing SVG/Bowers!
SG: KCP / Bullock? / Hilliard?
Meeks has been traded, Hilliard has a back injury, can Bullock handle our backup SG?
SF: Morris / Johnson / ???
I think we are done here as well. This seems to be our deepest position. Morris played well last year, Johnson could become a starter this year, KCP, Harris and Bullock can all slide over to play SF as well.
PF: Harris / ??? / Ellenson?
All eyes on PF now. Harris is the obvious starter of course, but we got a surprise in getting Ellenson. He seems certainly worthy of the 3rd PF spot, maybe even step into the rotation, which is great for an #18 pick in a weak draft. But we will still be looking for a backup PF in free agency.
C: Drummond / Baynes / ???
We certainly need 3 centers on the team, especially when Drummond isn't playing 4th quarters (hopefully a rule change will help us there). But we still need to be 3 deep to cover if we have any injuries. It seems like Ellenson should be big enough to play some, and maybe our free agent PF. But we need to have someone fill in this role.
So my shopping list in priority order:
1. Backup PG - complete
2. Backup PF
3. Backup SG
4. 3rd string center
Somewhere around 15M to fill those gaps.[/quote]

Re: 2016-17 Lineup and questions
I think Morris/Johnson/Harris take most of the SF/PF minutes. We're really only looking at someone to play 10-15 minutes at PF/Center in smaller lineups. Also, word is Meeks was traded to free up time for Bullock
Looks like this to me -
PG: RJ 32/Smith 16
SG: KCP 32/ Bullock (or maybe Hilliard) 16
SF: Morris 18/SJ 30
PF: Harris 30/Morris 12/FA 6
C: Drummond 32/Baynes and FA 16
This upcoming FA signing will be a situational player. I think Morris/Harris/SJ will go 32 each against some teams, and the FA might sit out entire games. All good. These young players have a chance to grow. Stan can figure it out at the deadline if he chooses. Dry powder's there for the future.....

Yeah, there's a valid debate regarding that. I think he or someone of his caliber is fine in that role though given the state of the roster. Johnson is more than likely still going to be taking minutes at shooting guard since both Morris and Harris will get time at small forward. That kind of negates the need to have one solid-above average backup. Bullock did well in a 3&D role last season, even in the playoffs, and that's about all I would expect for a role that needs to be filled for around 10-12 minutes a game after Caldwell-Pope and Johnson get their playing time.

Re: 2016-17 Lineup and questions
I don't believe now is the time to spend $10+ mil on a 2nd or 3rd (or lower) FA simply because it appears to be an issue.
There is no penalty for not hitting the salary cap floor - you simply pay the difference to the players you do have (equal shares all round)
So here's a rotation:
RJ 30, Ish 18
KCP 30, SJ 8, Bull 10
Mook 20, SJ 18, Bull 10
Harris 30, Mook 10, King 8
Dre 33, Baynes 15
That's 10, with Benji & Hilly when healthy...nice 12
Throw in Joel, CamBair & LoBrown to fill the roster spots for cheap and that's possible.
Or cut one of those 3 if you can get a big at a decent price (Robinson?)
In the land of the blind the one eyed man is King!
Benji can play garbage minutes at 3 positions. Hilly & King Henry at 2 positions...
Let's not do something stupid

An update on Day 2 of Free Agency. Stan is working the plan and executing well!!!

Great signing of Leuer. He fits the description of what was needed, and we didn't get a 20M albatross contract like Anderson got.

Leuer can play the 5.
