If you can do it, do it. I don't really trust Quick to break anything though.

That's a tremendous contract imo.

Another one. This is what I'm hoping for

Ok, I'm on board with this offseason again!

Stein and Quick is solid confirmation though.

I guess I gotta eat some crow a bit if this was Olshey's plan. Whether it plays out or not, he is going big.

This would make the Portland vs Houston games so damn entertaining!

It might be interesting to revisit some of the game threads from the Houston series a few years ago

Dwight and Parsons were by far the Rockets best two players in that series. Harden pooped the bed outside of one game.

Lets just say I don't think it was a coincidence this news broke literally minutes before Parsons meeting with Memphis started.

Bingo

Interesting. I would have thought they would have tried to get Howard first.

Interesting but very risky. Potentially half our cap spent on injury risks

Bingo

ok then

Parsons would be getting about 22 million first year. Reportedly, Howard wants 24 million a year, so figure on 23 million first year. That means Portland would need about 45 million in cap-space

these are the guaranteed contracts, near as I can figure:

Damian Lillard $24,381,225
Al-Farouq Aminu $7,680,965
Ed Davis $6,666,667
C.J. McCollum $3,219,579
Noah Vonleh $2,751,360
Mason Plumlee $2,328,530
Anderson Varejao (stretched) $1,984,005
Pat Connaughton $874,636
5 Roster Charges 2.71 million

52.6 million

that would mean the Blazers would need to clear another 3.6 million in cap-space. Maybe, they could work Parsons and Howard enough that simply dumping Vonleh would be sufficient. Maybe not. That kind of leaves trading Aminu or Davis as the 'only' alternatives to clear enough space. Hopefully, if they did that, they could bring back at least one lower-paid player because they are going to need to fill out the roster big-tme

that nearly 2 million dollars of cap-space Varajao's stretch is eating up is a big wart in the plan. If going after 2 max players was the plan all along, then trading for Varajao and the first round pick is a real questionable decision. Making it more questionable is that the Blazers could have traded that 1st for one or two high 2nd round picks in the draft, giving them more roster filling players...which they will need if this plan succeeds.

I might have excluded a player from that guaranteed salary list too....Cliff Alexander. I think his guarantee date was June 30. That would add 874K in salary, but it would delete a 543K roster charge. Not a significant change really

So its between memphis and Portland for parsons and boston and Portland for dwight. Or maybe dwight is contingent on parsons to portland.

Maybe. But I remind everyone there will surely be another amnesty event in the new CBA next summer, which would help tremendously on the off-chance this is pulled off and then goes terribly wrong.

Yup but as we saw with Roy pa also doesn't like forking out money when he's paying for career ending injured players
