Conley is outrageous but he is a productive player and a starting PG. But 6pt 4reb and DNP in playoffs and 64 million? That's just ludicrous.

All of them. There isn't a single contract that I feel good about it.

Contracts in this FA are like choosing among slightly overpaid, overpaid, massive overpaid and "are you out of you **** mind" !
Shaq on Duncan:SA won because of TD, a guy I could never break.I could talk trash to Ewing, get in D-Rob's face, get a rise out of Mourning, but when I went at Tim he’d look at me like he was bored and say:“Hey,Shaq, watch this shot right off the glass.”

Evan Turner's is the worst. Guy is a wing who can't shoot (24% from 3!), not a plus defender, is not young (28 later this year), and was made to look MUCH better by Brad Stevens coaching, getting 4 years for $70 million. Horrible.

But what really made this so bad for POR is, they have 3 wings - Aminu, Crabbe, Harkless - that are better and younger than Turner!! And they all will get paid less than this. Signing Turner was completely unnecessary. This deal will CRIPPLE Portland over the span of Dame and CJ's prime. That is why it is so bad.

I think everyone needs to use this tool

When making contract analysis.

I'd agree it wasn't a good signing. 17 mil will not cripple the team when the cap goes to what 108 million? I think the Blazers are viewing Aminu and Harkless as small ball 4's alot of the time.

I do have to wonder -- what's the rush to pay Turner so much? Is life really that bad if you wait until next week to see what the market is for the guy?

That said, Turner is just a vanilla overpay. Sure, the Blazers are probably paying $5M a season too much for the guy, but that's not going to make or break your franchise the way the Conley deal will.

Agreed. That's a little over 17m a season.

I'm glad I'm not the only one that thinks Hill could actually be a decent get for the Pelicans. I see some Draymond in him, if he can improve his jumper (which he already has), it will end up being a good signing for them.

Conley
Noah
Mozgof
Hill
Turner

The first three are especially bad.

30+12+17+17+16 = 94

you've used up all your cap-space if you signed that team.

Turner easily. None of the others are particularly bad from a percentage standpoint people just haven't gotten used to these comparatively huge numbers yet.

I will say though that Conley's deal worries me. Dude is already 28 and Memphis might need to rebuild in a year or two anyway :-?

Hill, by a lot. Just because there are like 10-15 dudes you could've paid as much in front of him.

For Conley, if you're the Grizz you either pony up the cash or lose the best PG in this free agency by a long shot. I've never been huge on Conley but he was constantly being talked about as a fringe All-Star level PG just a few year(s?) ago. You gotta do what you gotta do if you're not a big/high profile market.

For comparison, Dwight just signed for the same total money (1 year less but still) as Evan Turner

Dwight got 23m a year over 3 seasons. It's not as bad as I thought. Still don't think he's worth that, but we'll see. Jeff Green got 15m for 1 yr. That's fine, just don't think he's a good fit in Orlando with Hezonja ready to step in.

I say it's Mozgov. I watched a bunch of film on their rookie Zubac and I think he is already as good as Mozgov who has already started his decline. They didn't need him.

I love Mario Hezonja. He is not ready to step in.

I'm on the "Noah then Mozgov" bandwagon that TS stated.

With the caveat that if Mozgov is healthy next year, his deal could work out fine.

I can't believe Memphis gave Parsons more than 23M per year. That is unreal. I missed that before.

Also kudos to people mentioning the Solomon Hill deal.
Thank you Nico!
