Orlando currently has 4 PGs on its payroll. I would not project that on opening night.

Would it liked Lin but the price tag was too high I guess.

The verb "Mozgof'ed" is genius lol.

I do not mind the signing but it is a mistake to give Augustine 4 years.

As we saw this year with Frye, it should be pretty easy to move a cap friendly veteran contract to a contender if necessary. Calling it a mistake is an overreach considering how friendly it is on a per year basis after all that we've seen today.

Great to see you ORL.

We shall see.

The Magic have 12.5 million dollars commited to their two back up point guards next season.

I don't see how any of you can defend this deal, Augustine at best is a mid level backup and many would argue he is less than that.

4 years..4 years. How did DJ Augustine get a 4 year contract?
aol4532 on bill russell
I think if you put McGee back then, he would get those blocks just as easily as Russell did. Russell's athleticism was well ahead of the players of his time, and that's about it.

The same way that ETwaun Moore, ETwaun got 34mi? I prefer to have DJ than him.

I've been reading quotes about how he's one of the best back ups in the league and produces when given starters minutes...

Are you really ok staying pat with CJ & Napier for next year? Give me a break. This guy can put the ball in the hoop and get his teammates involved. Napier is done after this year and we can cut Watson after this year and only take a 1million dollar cap hit.

I think this is a great move.

Not like we'd ever retire Meer anyway. Is it bad that I didn't even realize Jason Smith wore 14...

 Me neither! Totally forgot. Maybe it's because Smith was a tall white guy. I guess this will be our first short black guy to wear 14 not named Jameer in a long time.

I didn't know Augustin is also from New Orleans. That's huge when pairing him with Elf. I could see them working well as our rotation. Sounds real humble and ready to work and help Elf grow. I hope this signing works out better than the last backup PG.

It seems clear that Watson will be traded mid-season.

Next year, CJ's contract isn't guaranteed; so he'll be off the books in July, if not sooner via trade.

Well, Troy Daniels' 3 year, $10M dollar deal makes me sour on the Augustin signing... more than a little... but not suicidal. lol.

Daniels is the type of veteran 3 and D PG that fit what I was hoping to get this year. 48% from 3 on 2.8 attempts per game. Feisty like a fox on D... 24 years old... oh well. Heck, I would've loved to get em both. That was a cheap deal!

Augustin is much more worth than Daniels.

Augustin brings in veteran stability and is capable of taking over games at times.

This contract is not gonna ruin any teams situation but yea tiny guards with largely common, replicable skills should not be given 4 guaranteed years.

Which is another reason why Conleys contract was the worst one given out this offseason in my opinion.
