is he. conley doesnt change that.

its very annoying watching people compare old contracts to the new, like any of that matters at all.

What's the old and new comparison's here, both contracts have technically not even been handed out, they've merely agreed on terms. My point was that people lashed out hearing the derozan news, and considering there is a difference between the numbers from both the derozan and conley contract, conley's is still slightly worse.

Look, I understand that everyone nowadays is overpaid because of the market.
Parsons, beal, turner, noah, derozan, batum all got overpaid. RELATIVE TO ONE ANOTHER, everyone is overpaid.

sorry my post was two different comments.

like when people say "conley will be paid 30 but curry only makes 12! smh"

but making everything related to the raptors is getting super annoying on this site.

Hm I most certainly did no such comparison but I agre with you when pppl make such comparisons. Either way, the point of my post was that althogh both derozan and conley are overpaid ( AS IS EVERYONE GETTING CONTRACTS IN THE NBA RIGHT NOW), conley is marginally worse by the numbers with an excess of another 15 mil while not being the player that derozan is. At least derozan is an allstar SG and his team just lost to the Championship Cavs in 6 games while he averaged 23/3.5/3.2 on 50% shooting in 37 min. People overlook derozan so much.

there are only a very few players in the league that can afford to simply think about "rings" when they sign deals. rings are the last thing on most player's minds when you are talking about his kind of wealth.

Absolute nonsense. NBA tickets prices haven't really been increasing above inflation prices and there are still plenty of opportunities to get bargains as long as you're not looking for premium seats in contending teams or playoffs (but those have been expensive for many years now). All this additional money comes from the TV deals (and increased sponsorship) - and actually it's only half of that increase in revenue. Teams can pay all these contracts and still improve their financial situation without increasing tickets prices.

Not for us Bulls fans. Prices have skyrocketed in the last few years. Its about $100 bucks a pop now for the top of the nosebleeds. I guess some of that is the bandwagon fans ruining it too once 2011 hit. In 2009, I went to that epic Bulls/Celtics game 6. i bought the tix about a week before the game, sat fairly low in the nosebleeds for $60. 2 years later game 1 round 1 vs Indiana wouldve ran me $100

Chicago, Lakers, Knicks and now GSW have the highest tickets prices in the NBA and are in a class apart. Plus, in the Bulls case it was a perfect storm: 2008 to 2010 were recessionary years where teams were struggling to renew season tickets without any price increases, the Bulls got better just exactly when the economy was picking up steam. You can still buy season tickets for the Bulls for $40ish if you don't mind the bad seats though.

The average ticket price in the NBA has increased less than $10 in the last 10 years and it's still significantly lower than the average NFL or NHL ticket price, or the average ticket price for a premium soccer match in Europe.

actually, biggest contract for a person who plays basketball. ever.

Don't you hate it when someone quotes you and you see a typo...lol...

The draft is going to be beyond important nowadays for you to not draft a bust and get a cheap contract for at least 4 to 5 years.

Actually, I believe Bobby Marks was talking about how the NBPA is looking to change the rookie salary scale, vet min, and MLE/MMLE contracts in the next CBA so the players in the 2018 NBA draft will probably see a big increase over their counterparts in 2016 and 2017.

I assure you things will go better for you in life if you do learn from this exchange.

why do I think ticket prices will go up much faster than inflation from this point is because salary cap is going up faster than inflation. this is an unprecedented jump in the salary cap. the CLE owner is losing money on an operations basis. teams are not swimming in profits. the value of the teams keep rising. but don't assume that these are extraordinary profit making enterprises. it's human nature that prices will go up because owners will want to protect and increase profits. and when they can pass on increasing costs they will. they will charge what the market will bear. and right now there is a high demand from elites and corporations for NBA tickets. prepare for ticket prices to go up.

This rise in player salaries is solely because of rising TV revenue. Which the players split with the owners 50-50 like all NBA revenue. So because of that, this increase in salary is ALREADY covered by the owners half of the TV deal increasing as well. So there's no need to increase ticket prices.

You just sound like you have no idea how any of this works. Nothing more, or less.

With how today is going we'll have a new "record breaking" deal every 20 minutes.

No, you don't understand how max salaries work. This is literally the largest possible contract that can be given out this year, because (a) Conley is in the 7-9 year experience range (b) He is re-signing with his incumbent team, who are the only ones who can give him 7.5% annual raises (other teams can only offer 4.5%) (c) This starts at his full max annual salary.

Durant's maximum possible contract is exactly this amount (and only if he re-signs with OKC). Only Dwight could get more this year (10+ years experience), but he will not (HOU not interested in re-signing him).

So yes, this WILL actually be the biggest contract in NBA history for at least the next year.

Not to belabor my point, but here is confirmation that Conley indeed has the largest deal in NBA history (and will so until next year, as I explained):
