IIRC, Biyombo has said he's give Toronto time to work out the plan they have for this summer. He's probably Toronto's to lose
and I believe Marvin Williams has said he'd wait for Charlotte's first offer and decide his course then. Reportedly, he likes his situation there and Charlotte wants to re-sign him

Bummer, his shooting and defense would be nice on the Blazers. Speaking of shooting, I haven't heard anything about Ryan Anderson either...

Anderson has spoken with Sacramento and Houston, for sure. But, he could probably wait until Durant and Horford sign to see what his market is.

Re: Portland - 2016 Offseason
I actually really like the Turner fit at SF. He does it all outside shoot the 3, and has the type of unselfish game that will fit here. The idea of him playing on ball and letting Lillard and CJ run off screens and such really seems appealing. Was he worth 17M? No. But probably 14M in this climate, so I just consiter the extra 3M a 'rain tax' for moving here.
He also has a hilarious personality. And plays defense. And is clutch. Thats huge.
Not perfect, but it works. Add Gasol to this team and we might have the best passing starting 5 in the NBA.

Yep, I think people are just too caught up with the old salary numbers. While Turner is not a slam dunk contract this is roughly a slight overpay to get him to come to Portland type of thing.
I really doubt they went in and threw this big number at him if no other team was interested, I mean I think the first rule of being a GM is not to try to outbid yourself. If Turner was getting 0 interest or was getting offers of say 10 million a year at best I doubt we would have made this offer to him.
This team desperately needs a 3rd ball handler and more perimeter defense and Turner has those two areas covered big time. Turner also fits the age range of players we want, since he is 27 which is the same age as Lillard and McCollum roughly.

David Aldridge is saying that Portland is "working on" getting in the mix for Mahimni - as well as Gasol.

Re: Portland - 2016 Offseason
This FA period just shows we need to resign CJ no matter what the contract is. Portland isnt attracting any game changing FAs anytime soon, not even any the same level as CJ

Re: Portland - 2016 Offseason
if POR makes the 2nd round or better again they might start attracting attention. Although will there be much money then? I think there's probably some skepticism now that POR will be able to perform well again and maybe last year was an anomaly.
Anyway, POR can get better through player development, draft picks and trades. There's options.

Mahinmi and Gasol are both on San Antonio and Minnesota's radars as well.

I think the best course of action at this point is to bring our free agents back on the best deals possible, hope that they continue to develop, and make an asset consolidation trade down the road (ala Harden Trade).

Re: Portland - 2016 Offseason
I don't see Gasol as a serious signing, but Mahimni would be solid. And if it all shakes out that no other big name comes then it may not be so bad to get a Jordan Hill type, meaning a youngish veteran that can just fit in and rebound and block shots while protecting the rim at a decent price.
I know most will totally disagree with me but I'm actually holding onto the rumour that Olshey is going to meet with Austin Rivers, who I think could be a good third guard.
And if that doesn't happen I can still see a good role for Mo Harkless if they throw McCollum at backup point and slide Turner next to CJ. Harkless can still get the same minutes as last season as he split time at both forward positions. And of course that depends on whether or not another team is going to offer Harkless a deal that Olshey simply can't match.
I did say that I thought DJ Augustin would be a good backup point but after seeing what he got they may be just as well to hang onto Roberts and Montero and once again use McCollum as the main backup point. I also mentioned Norris Cole but I can now see him getting $7mil where before I was thinking in the neighbourhood of $3.5-$4mil.

Re: Portland - 2016 Offseason
Turner seems to have a good attitude although who wouldn't with the sort of contract he was offered:

It's not totally unrealistic to say he could learn how to shoot either. Several players have as they got older. And if he learns to shoot he could end up being a great signing.

Re: Portland - 2016 Offseason
God damn I was playing around with the calculator I think our free agency might be over -_-.
IF we let Kaman, Roberts, Alexander, Meyers, Gerald Henderson walk
sign on Turner for his 17.5 M,
Resign Crabbe at 15M (undervaluing)
Harkless at 10M (I think this is undervaluing)
leaves us at 600K , of course we can go into luxury tax but just saying
