Well, considering that we have 6 players under contract, it also represents a disconnect. They're gonna have to field a team this year and next. I don't think we can get by with 6-8 players on 1-2 year deals again. We're going to need to ink at least one or two more rotation players on longer deals, if only to build chemistry and build up a cache of tradeable assets.

Also apparently interested in Ian Mahimi... as a backup 5 he is decent... wouldn't break the bank for em. Still need another 4. Plz Nicholson, m. williams or t. jones. M. Williams can give minutes at 3 and 4.

I like Mahimi and Williams. Not as big on Jones.

Man I really like Indy's offseason. Looking like the 2 seed next year.

Their defense will be awful next season. Offensively very interesting.

I like Mahinmi too, but I need to see a price first before I can get on board. He is efficient, but you're talking about a very limited offensive player.

We could use him for his defense and his willingness to scrape and do the dirty work though.

I remember being at the Clippers-Zards game at Verizon where Aldrich played like an all-star. I'm figuring that the Clippers are either going to go all-out to resign him or he's headed someplace where he can start. But I'm all for going after Cole....and I hope the Zards FO and EG are on that same page.

BTW, I also like the Ed Davis idea. I thought Davis was going to have a better NBA career than he has had. Sometimes it seems like he's only half-interested in being an NBA player. He certainly qualifies as a rim protector and rebounder.

Ed Davis -- very good player, but he isn't a FA. He's such a value in the current market that I doubt Portland will trade him.

Hoping Ryan Anderson gets an offer he can't refuse from Houston or Toronto. Same with H. Barnes.

Are we going to be accepting walk ons to round out our roster?

Yeah, after Durant and Horford, it really isn't worth it to chase guys just so the fans are happy because we signed somebody. I'm not happy we didn't do a thing but there are plenty of guys left. However, there are no bargains. You are not going to fill most of these slots without having to overpay somebody.

A guy like Cole Aldrich is not going to want to be a caddy to Gortat. He's likely to get in the $13-15M range considering what Mozgov made.

You might be right -- probably are right. But... aren't teams going to start running out of $$ soon? Cap room has been produced in one economy, guys are being signed in a new economy.

Maybe Ernie is letting everybody punch themselves out, with the thought that there'll be good players left and little or no competition for them. Just possibly the kind of thought process he'd be capable of.

Yes. I'm pleasantly surprised if this is indeed the case. I certainly don't want to see them spending $20M per year on guys like Anderson and Deng, when they can get Terrence Jones for $10M or Quincy Acy for $4M.

I do think the crazy money will dry up soon enough and we'll start seeing some more reasonable contracts in the coming days.

Mahinmi would be a good pickup for the right price. He'd be an effective replacement for Nene on the 2nd unit. Just as good, if not a better defender than Nene. Offensively he's meh but if he had offensive skill, he'd get $25 mil a year in this market.

He was a good starter for Indy though. Very good at challenging shots. Indy will miss his defense a lot.

I'd gouge my eyes out if Terrence Jones got $10 mil per. The guy was unplayable last year. He offers no defense or floor spacing offensively, I wonder why this board fawns over him so much.

Don't understand why they didn't go after Ish Smith - flat out must not have liked him from camp last year. Seems like a perfect back PG that can be a starter for reasonable stretches if needed. Would rather have him than Sessions, but he is off the market.

Thoughts on Grevis Vasquez? Seems pretty competent in small doses and occasionally catches fire.

What about Mo Speights as the primary backup at 4/5? Hit 39% on 3s this year and is big enough to play the 5, but has enough of an outside game that you could get away playing him with March for short stretches.

Also think a legit backup 2/3 is needed for Beal's annual injuries. Best case that guy would be a designated bench scorer. Both Otto and Oubre seem to lean much more towards the defensive side. Need bench scoring badly. I like Courtney Lee, but I think he would steal minutes from Otto/Oubre - not sure that is the best case for the long term. Maybe Gerald Henderson? Might cost too much. Kevin Martin can still score - would not pay him a ton though, another fragile player.

Lots of roster spots to fill...

Resolve wasn't so impressive when they panicked and traded the #13 pick, who would be paid peanuts for the next 4 years, for a mediocre head case.

Dudley up from $4m to $10m. Up from 1-year contract to 3-year contract.

NBA owners must really be making a lot of money!

Deng & Sully would be two guys I'd be heavily targeting right now. If you could somehow squeeze Tomas' salary with those two into that $31 mil (keeping Temple's cap hold), that's a successful off-season.
