He was admittedly really bad this season, but the previous 3 seasons look pretty darn good. PER in the 18 range. WS/48 around .160. ORtg of 115. And all at the tender age of 23.

I haven't followed Houston enough to know why he sucked so bad this year. Was he hurt or did he just inexplicably regress?

NBA owners must really be making a lot of money!

See ya "dad bod". Good quote and nice 3-point stroke, but starting him at the 4 was a struggle on D and esp. on the boards.

$13M/$13M/$6M works. Deng might take $13M if we give him a 3 years. Dunno about Sullinger, though.

Actually, the trade looks even better given the reality of free agency. The Zards are going to need all the experienced bodies they can get. Mediocre or not, at least for the short-term Morris is almost certain to contribute more than a raw, inexperienced rookie.

Do you think that Wall, Gortat, etc. would rather have that 6th player currently under contract (at a very reasonable price, btw) be Morris or a rookie not named Simmons or Ingram?

Why wasn't that an option for us?

Not saying I would pay a ton for him, but intriguing due to age and injury past.
Then, last year happened. A freak nerve injury followed by a car accident and a collapsed lung left him on the sideline most of the year while Donatas Motiejunas and Josh Smith teamed up to play some of the best power forward the Rockets had in years. By the time Donuts threw out his back before the playoffs, McHale had to tinker with the bench magic by starting Josh Smith in the playoffs because Jones had been so bad.

KD is going to golden state- period.

They took the Curry, Klay, Dramond and Iggy to the meeting and they told KD he could have Barnes locker. If I was Harrison Barnes I wouldn't come back to golden state under any circumstances.

Is kind of relieving to be honest...

Also apparently interested in Ian Mahimi... as a backup 5 he is decent... wouldn't break the bank for em. Still need another 4. Plz Nicholson, m. williams or t. jones. M. Williams can give minutes at 3 and 4.

Yes. I'm pleasantly surprised if this is indeed the case. I certainly don't want to see them spending $20M per year on guys like Anderson and Deng, when they can get Terrence Jones for $10M or Quincy Acy for $4M.

I do think the crazy money will dry up soon enough and we'll start seeing some more reasonable contracts in the coming days.

He showed fairly decent progress and production from his rookie year to year 3. Last year was bad for him, no doubt... but if he can get back to his sophmore/3rd year form 10 mil a year for him seems decent given Mirza and Duds got that much.

So, despite the lip service, we didn't really want Dudley back -- not enough to make an actual offer, anyway.

We were convinced we were getting Durant, why would they explore other 4s?

Step 1: get your foot in the door.

Step 2:

Honestly, I'm *dying* to know what the Wizards' pitch looked like. Was it just some combo of Egg, Ted, and Brooks? Or did Wall & Beal show up?

How do you tank with John Wall? Even if we get replacement types with the $30 mil were still likely winning 35-40 games.

Very doable. Wall is injured and will not be in tip top shape and will get hurt again and will have a bad attitude by next February .and beal will play 55 games...

That's what I alluded to in the Beal thread this morning - they may have wanted to go into that meeting able to say that Beal is for sure locked up longterm.

If KD goes to the Warriors and it comes down to Wash vs Boston for Horford, we might have a shot. Wall is the best overall player on either team IMO, and Horford would get to play PF next to a proven true center.

Washington being the weakest of the teams at the table, we would have to throw some crazy cash his way. At his age, Horford is going to the best team.

What happens to Kief then? We tossed the 13 pick to get a starting PF.

So what's the plan here if we get Horford? Where did they tell him he would play? Keef to the bench? Keef at the 3? What's the deal with Porter? Is there a trade happening?
