12 for Lin... 13.8 PER
9.5 for Dellavedova... 11.3 PER
9 for Bayless... 12.4 PER
7.25 for Augustin... 13.9 PER
or 6 for Smith. 14.9 PER
For the amount of minutes that Smith projects to play (about 18, if Reggie logs 30 again this season), he's worth it. I don't think Lin is twice the player, or that Bayless is 50% better. PER shows an inverse relationship!

In the entire 10 pages of the 'Backup pg' thread, Ish Smith's name was mentioned favorably exactly twice (2 times). And now he has 20 votes in this thread. Lol

It's just the value of the signing. I would have blown 15 million a year on a great PG that could play alongside Jackson, but 6 million is just fine for a backup that put up arguably the best stats of those listed.

I think he was a clear sign for the Sixers this summer.

Let's clear this up right now: Is it a good thing or a bad thing if our second unit is playing like Ish?

Good. it would be a fast paced fast break bench.

Smith
Bullock
Morris
???Rookie, tolliver
Baynes

I like it because Smith is a floor general, and can make things happen. I like Blake, 10 years less milage. He was a weak link out there and would kill our flow.

Moore is hardly a point guard, but so is Bayless and they're in the same mold. I would have put that deal below Smith's as well.

My favorite deal of the five is Delly, but Ish is second. Lin wasn't even an option, it appears.

That Bayless contract really sucks. DJ's is OK.

I imagine Delly & Lin wanted starting spots or at least the opportunity to compete for the starting spot...

That was never gonna happen here so they're off the table.

Compared to the other dudes Ish is not only a bargain but better than them on the floor.

We've now got a pass first PG that can change the pace of the game...on a team that needs a set up man off the bench!
