Here's the thing. There's no "basketball" league on the planet that can be pay like the NBA, so in what universe does it make sense for the players not to get their money? The league isn't disbanding anytime soon because now the TV deal has been corrected, everyone is going to eat. Which should be the case if you want the league to remain solvent.

We've come a long way since the NBA-ABA merger forty years ago.

NBA just signed a 25 billion dollar TV deal. if you divide that up with all 30 teams, each team will get 100 million per year. The NBA like all American sports have revenue sharing or socialism. So it doesn't matter if you're Utah or New York, every team is getting 100 million a year. Salary cap for players is 95 million, so owners don't have to pay a thing when giving out checks to players.

TV makes their money with Ads, so fans will ultimately pay these salaries indirectly, a few dollars here and a few cents their, every time you pay your state farm or insurance, maybe a dollar goes to the NBA, when you buy a coke, maybe a few cents indirectly goes to the NBA.

I thought top NHL players only get 10-15 million a year. Not really that much for pro sports.

NBA revenue is waaayyy higher, ratings are higher, and actually has significant international appeal. Basically: NBA is a far more lucrative business which means more money for everyone involved.

Why, did you somehow relate to players who already were making between $5-18 million per year in the previous economic climate of the league?

The players are collectively getting the exact same percentage of revenue as they have been since 2011. And that deal LOWERED the percentage of revenue from the CBA period between 99 and 2010.

The money spent today is what happens when you get a 9 year 24 billion American TV contract, internet ad and streaming revenues that simply didn't exist 10 years ago, and revenues from TV , licensing, and apparel deals in Europe and China.

It's still basketball. Its still world class athletes and skill. It's still a league and season with competition, egos, rivalries, storylines, etc.

Why do you assume that:

A: All the players came from "black communities" only. Many of the players are sons of former millionaire players. Many of the players are from mixed marriages. Many of the players grew up in middle class and upper class diverse communities. Many of the players are black american, white american, white european, black european, african, asian etc. The NBA is very diverse when you break down all the backgrounds of its 450 players

B: They're not giving back to communities, kids etc. To make such a claim or issue a concern, I would presume you've at least looked into this. Have you? Is there cause you've found to suggest that NBA millionaires give back less, donate less than millionaires from other professions?

C: You have any right to suggest where and how they should spend their money.

You know, the agents must be really enjoying this new cap.

A) You conveniently skipped over the word some in my statement. I obviously don't expect that Mozgov will be helping out any struggling black community any time soon.. If he does ? More power to him.. He won't though.

B) Majority do not actually. Some do.. It clearly isn't enough. And yes, I have looked into this..

C) There's no such thing as rights. It's merely a statement I made, you should get off your high horse.. Of course I realize that most will not ( and TBH, I don't blame some because of the spending habits of the community, but I will not derail this thread further). At least guys like LeBron and Dikembe do something, most of these uber rich athletes could care less and end up bumming out like Antoine Walker.. Just buy their shoes, watch their games and shut up.

NHL is a dying league. It is losing popularity even in Canada.

Ideally. Unfortunately, the government has proven itself to be an enemy and oppressor of black people. And yes, that even includes the first 'gay' president... SMH...
