Kings could send you their three 1st round picks from this year Papagiannis, Malachi Richardson, and Skal Labissiere?!?!? You want Bogdan Bodganovic as well?

The AL Horford Dilemma

If Kevin Durant passes on Golden State (suppose to decide before July 4th).
That leaves Horford being an option if he decides to wait for Durant's decision. I believe Horford is a perfect piece for Golden State.

I think Golden State has the cap space to sign Al outright. If not then I'd happily take Andre Igoudala off their hands.

GSW would need to shed some contracts I believe to take on Al or Durant.

I'd totally make a play for Iggy

Are you guys hoping to bring him back still? You can't possibly play the 3 of them can you? You guys watch him much more than me but, I don't think Horford is a 4 in today's NBA. Think it'd be a big mistake to choose Horford over Milsap. Curious to hear your take not here to start trouble or anything.

^ All reports show that Atlanta has ever intention to give Horford max and resigning him. Horford should be fine as a new age power forward. Horford would like a Detroit Rasheed Wallace. Horford shot .350 from three last year and would attempt 3.5 threes a game.

Horford's 3pt shooting isn't great, but good enough that he should be attempting them. Watching alot of Horford last year, he didn't make any game winning 3s, but i was impressed with his 3pt shooting in the 4th quarter. It would seem like he would start off cold but then warm up in the 4th if he ever took a three.

I think they'll take him back on a discount now. Clearly they didn't offer him 5 years , if they did, he hesitated and they signed Dwight.

Now the Hawks have leverage. Al can go somewhere else or come back and accept a fair deal (no way he makes more the d12 now right?)

I believe if Al comes back they move Millsap. Having said that it's weird, Al has always played center, he's an all star center. Moving him to the 4 at this stage of his career would be interesting.

I'd rather keep Millsap personally but he may be leaving next year anyway.

I don't think the Hawks believe in paying 80 million to baze Horford Millsap d12 , I just can't. They have to really cut salary to sign Horford too.

I'm gonna put this here:
http://www.ajc.com/news/sports/basketball/hawks-made-very-significant-offer-to-horford-still/nrrNH/

Basically the Hawks gave Al a huge offer on day 1, Al dragged his feet, Atlanta went another direction.

We have had conflicting reports about the 5th year. This makes it seem we offered it.

I have a feeling it went down something like this:
We offered Al a 5 year max.
Al said he wanted to see us improve the team first/see all his options.
We went out and did that.
Al still dragged his feet.
We used up cap space.

Thanks for posting the article.

I believe it went down just like that.
Horford possibly wanted to see what was up with OKC as well.

Zach Klein (local guy) reporting that we have upped our offer to Al, offering the 5th year, but it isn't a max.

Note: my respect for Coach Bud as head decision maker has grown immensely in this offseason, so far. I feel like he's made all the right moves so far.

Woj got my hopes up throughout the day, even saying that Washington and Boston were rapidly losing hope at signing Al.

Now he drops a WojBomb that Al's signing a 4 year max deal with Boston .

Millsap will pair just fine with Howard. Horford is a very good player, just not worth the max and underachieved in the post season. Thanks for all Al. Wish you the best in Boston.
GO HAWKS.

Hawks and Horford were $6 mil total apart in negotiations.

What am I missing here? Why couldn't we offer him the $1.2 mil extra annually? Could it be that we had a Millsap trade ready and that the $1.2 mil was the difference?

It would've been so nice to have Al at PF, a true center, and a team that was going to be good now and in the future with the assets we were sure to get from the Millsap trade.

It will be interesting to see if we find out how much we were offering.

From the reports it seemed we gave AL a ton of chances and ultimately it was his decision.

5 years/$136 million. He reportedly wanted $142 million.

I concur, ATL.
Bud had done a fantastic job this off-season.
I'll miss Al Horford but the money was there, maybe not the additional six million, but it possibly would have worked out had he wanted it to.
I wish him only the best.

Not a fan of what he tweeted out. No love lost here. And I'm pretty sure they're about to get Durant b/c he tweeted this after their meeting. Even less love lost.

It's just frustrating that we seemingly pinched pennies ($1.2 mil per year under the new cap is pennies) in this scenario. I wonder if Bud would offer him the extra $6 mil if he could go back in time to the start of the day.

Now we shift our attention to Millsap. He won't get traded, and is a consummate pro, so I doubt the talks will really affect any team chemistry. But next year you're talking about a $36.5 million deal for him annually. Yuck.
