There's a couple of them, those "undeserving" ones. Hill, Noah, ET, ew.

Imo, I wrote it a few pages back, but it's Bradley Beal and Batum and Solomon Hill(maybe add Mozgov 3rd string big for 16 mils a year and Noah who has barely played the last 2 years). I do not like DeRozan's contract, but the Raptors had no choice(same could be said about the Warriors, but Demar is much better than Beal, despite being a poor shooter). Conley's contract is in the top 3 of the worst contract, too...

Batum has had some injury issues. He's a role player. He's basically somewhat like our guy Jae, with better shot and less versatility on defense and his makes x3 his salary, yearly.

Beal's contract is just plain bad. It will be miracle if he plays 60 + games, and his game is so inconsistant.
Good assessment:

1) Noah
2) Mozgov
3) Turner
4) Parsons
5) Conley

Conley is a very good player but that's a ton of money. He's not worth that much healthy and he's coming off an achilles injury, which have a way of being chronic (see Nicola Pekovic).

He's actually a good player. He had a good year last year when pg was injured. He's playing behind better players so his production went to hell. I don't think many of you actually seen him play. He's capable of starting. He can get better also. But still slightly overpaid. Conley took that award. But the money has to be used. Its not there decision

Mozgov was the most surprising, but he has a chance to redeem himself, and will have plenty of opportunities in LA. It is a bad sum of money to throw, though.
Conley was ridiculous. He's getting 30 million per year, and although he could still grow as a player, and get better still, can he get that much better?
Turner was risky as well, he is a hard worker though and might produce just enough that you forget how much he's getting paid.

Conley is bad but at least you know he's gonna be solid throughout that contract

The head scratchers to me are ones like Solomon Hill, Evan Turner, and Mozgov getting 50-70 million. Those are like 7th or 8th men in the rotation and you just tied up years of future cap flexibility when you could have gotten similar players in the d league.

That's not really fair to Amare. At least Amare was an all star for several years and made several deep playoff runs. Beal has never gotten beyond "well if he can stay healthy"

I can't help but laugh at people bashing the noah signing. There are borderline d-league players getting 50-70 million.

Noah is one season removed from:
-67 games played (even though the general board keeps proclaiming he hasn't played in 2 years)
-~7pts 10rebounds 5assists in just 30mpg
-always plays good d, always hustles
-awesome team player and intangibles
-one of the top bigs in the league every year prior

If he wasn't hurt last season, he would have gotten 100mill EASY. Even in the 29 games he played, he put up ~9rebounds and ~4assists per game in just 22mpg at the center position. He is now in shape, and well rested.

Then we also have borderline all stars getting 130-150 million dollar contracts. Capspace killers. 18million per season in a 100+mill cap is not a capspace killer.

Not even close to the worst contract. And no, robin lopez (as much as I like his game and attitude) is not even close to Noah's level. All Noah has to do is play 60 games, and be ready for the postseason (at his current production), and he is a great signing.

In today's NBA if you show even a hint of becoming a good defensive stretch 4 you are getting paid. He's a SF but he can play some 4 without whining and that's good enough for a lot of teams.

He played well in the playoffs, knocked down a ton of open threes and played good D at the 3/4 spots.

It's close but I gotta go with Conley I think. Largest contract in NBA history to a player who has never been an all star or all NBA selection at what is the most abundant position in the NBA? There are a ton of really solid NBA point guards out there and I don't think anyone would have been offering anything close to that. What are you setting yourself up for if you are committing 30-40% of your cap space to Mike Conley? This will limit them to early round exits at best imo. I don't think he's one of the best 7-8 point guards in the league let alone guards in general.

its because he signed with the knicks and GB loves to dump on them

if durant signed with the knicks coming off the 14-15 season where he only played 27 games you would see the same crap "hes a shell of his former self and can no longer stay on the floor, same old knicks chasing another once great player thats now washed up"

Honestly hate to say it because I love the guy, but it has to be Solomon Hill. He can be a very good role player, but I feel like you could get a similar caliber guy for a lot cheaper. I mean, I expect him to be kind of similar to how James Ennis was for them at the end of the season and he makes 1 mil next year.

The Lakers guys for sure.

1. Paid 65 million for Mozgov who pretty much was glued to bench much of last year, including in the playoffs. That being said I like Mozgov from previous years, but I'm suspicious of why he was benched so much compared to prior years. Was it small ball? I heard it was largely inconsistent play.

2. Luol Deng. 31 years old and just got basically the same contract as Parsons but with 1 year less on the deal. Deng is a really great role player but I wouldn't feel safe with him for 4 years at that price.

The Lakers are confusing. It's like they only half heartedly embrace a rebuild, then do head scratching stuff like this that keeps them in that dreaded treadmill situation. Luol Deng and Mozgov may get you 30 wins with young core but now you aren't developing young guys as much and you're more financially tied long term.

DrClutch wrote:Hill, Mozgov, Derozon,Beal... Im not going to say Conley was a bad deal but he is the heart of the grizzlies .. He is very underrated playing in the west coast but the team needs their leader and Conley pushes memphis every year he's played ...

I don't get the Derozan. We're getting him from 26-31 (his prime). He's a 23, 4 and 4 guy with a high usage (granted not great efficiency).

The contract isn't great, but it isn't close to the worst contracts being handed out this offseason.
