Except for the part where he doesn't actually play defense. I have no idea where people are getting that idea from. He was not even an adequate defender by any definition of the word.

On top of that, the guy has played 1 full season in the NBA despite being a 3-year veteran. He's started 17 games out of 147 games played...He doesn't pass the ball well. He doesn't get to the rim. He doesn't create his own offense. He's a spot-up shooter that came off the bench and chilled at the 3p line on a great 3p shooting team.

How exactly does that amount to a huge contract?

How much have you watched him play? I've watched him quite a bit and his defense is pretty good and he tries hard, it's certainly better than anything the Kings have on the wing currently.

If the Kings play it right, all he, or anyone else in his situation would have to do is spread and wait for a Cuz double team. The sign says "OPEN" all night long.

I don't remember exactly how many Blazers games I watched, maybe 20? But every single defensive metric out there says that not only was he not good defensively at all, but the Blazers gave up more points while he was on the floor than they did while he was on the bench.

And once again, it seems like you're referring to your "eye test" over stats. Since your eye test told me that Courtney Lee/Solomon Hill is a better defensive duo than Kawhi Leonard/Danny Green, I think I'm gonna stick with the stats ;)

No, YOUR stats said that. Danny Green's DFG% was at 44%, both Hill and Lee's were much higher. I guess the plan is to deny, deny, deny now that straw manning and deflecting didn't work?

Apparently more people watched the games as well rather than looked at pure stats to form their judgement. The games are played on the floor, not in the stat sheets. The stats tell you what happened, but not always why it happened.

I'm not sure I'd call him a lock down type like Lee or Hill, but he's clearly interested in playing defense on most nights.

Atlanta is looking to dump salary. Kings should try to get Thabo or Korver.

Kings can take on Thabo/Splitter and get an asset back from Atlanta. Ask for Taurean Prince even though they probably won't do it. If not, go for Isaia Cordinier, who's a super talented young French SG. Maybe a future 1st?

Send them 1 or more of our non-guaranteed assets that they can cut or keep for cheap. Can send them Dukan, Second Cousins, Mitrovic, Gudaitis...

That way Atlanta can sign Dwight and Horford if they want. The beauty of this is it keeps Horford away from Boston, which should drive them to desperation with all of their coveted bigs taken.

Then trade Rudy Gay and Koufos for whatever we can.

Then hopefully Boston gets desperate and empties out the treasure chest for Boogie. Then the Kings can finally start over the right way, staying out of contention for overpaying mediocre Free Agents this summer.

Then use our Cap Space the rest of the year like Philly has these last few years. Be a haven for dumping expired contracts into our Cap Space while picking up as many future assets as possible to rebuild. Take a year to tank it out and develop the young guys, while establishing the culture that Joerger wants, and rebuild organically the proper way.

Then they will have a ton of Cap Space for next Summer, which is going to be much more talent-rich than this Summer. Plus they will have at least 1 lottery pick in that great 2017 Draft.

Atlanta in trade talks with PHX Millsap for picks... if I'm Vlade I call ATL and offer Papagiannis, Richardson, and Skal Labissiere. Oh you want Bogdan Bodganovic too? Sure. Give me Millsap.

And mortgage the future for what? A mediocre playoff push (maybe) now and nothing even close to contention?

That is incredibly short sighted and makes no sense. I would rather go with the trade Boogie crowd (who I think are foolish as well) than do that.

We need to be patient. Riding out the ridiculous wild part of FA is the smart move. All these GM's that are in such a rush to get the best guy (leftover) out there are going to be very sorry in a couple of years when everything readjusts to the higher cap and all of a sudden that 30 million a year they just gave to a borderline all-star PG is going to look very foolish because the rest of their roster is going to want it too and they can't get it under the cap or afford it.

Have Hawks turned around on Howard? Cause if they are still bringing him in along with Baze, they will have to renounce Horford. I guess, they can keep that cap hold by trading Millsap into cap space, but I thought, hold up with Horford was Hawks refusing to give him 5th year. Then again with higher raises they can still give Al more money than anybody else.

Well, not having to give Millsap max next summer, while getting assets for him, while accomodating Al's desire to play at PF, sounds good. Why would Phoenix do that though? They have no chance to make POs this year, and Millsap doesn't fit their timeline. Unless it's for Archie Goodwin and heavily protected pick for expiring contract of semi-star, it doesn't look like a good move for them.

Two weeks ago that is #8/Belinelli for Millsap which is a great deal.. fast forward to july 2nd and I'm being short sighted?

You would rather trade Boogie than to use our rookie package for an All-Star?

The last section of your post I agree with and have said as much. Trading for Millsap avoids going out to overpay on non All-Star talent ...

Combining rumors and needs how about this?

3-way trade with Pacers and Rockets. Trade Gay, Koufos, McLemore and Isaiah Cousins and receive Beverley, Ellis, Ariza and 1st rounder from Pacers. Pacers receive Gay and McLemore. Rockets receive Stuckey, Koufos and Isaiah Cousins.

Trade 1st rounder from Pacers, cap space, Skal, and Richardson to Hawks for Milsap.

Don't spend ridiculous money on Waiters, Crabbe, etc.

Sign Stephenson and Barnes. Resign Curry and Acy.

PG Patrick Beverley/Seth Curry/Darren Collison(he'd start but suspension ?)
SG Monta Ellis/Lance Stephenson
SF Trevor Ariza/Omri Casspi/Matt Barnes
PF Paul Milsap/Quincy Acy
C DeMarcus Cousins/Willie Cauley-Stein/Georgios Papagainnis

That team has talent and grit to fit Joerger. It's a win now team. As a season ticket I don't want a blow it up rebuild. I want to be in playoffs. It's been too damn long.

There might be something here. But requires a lot of pieces to fall in place. Part of me wants Ellis but part of me doesn't. Maybe we can keep Richardson in the dealer for Milsap?

Haha, if anything that package has less value than before once it went from picks to players. Those players could turn out to be something special, but I doubt too many GM's other than Vlade are willing to gamble on it.

If you can trade up young assets for an all star who fits with your HOF big, you do it.

I never saw that proposal and it is completely unrealistic anyway.

I am not in favor of trading Boogie at all. Just think that makes more sense than giving up EVERYTHING obtained at very cheap prices for a guy who is a one year shot and then a ridiculous max to end his career.

Now with the AA signing, things are starting to take on a bit more solid form and the potential composition of the team with more moves is looking a lot more like being able to make a jump to contending level rather than just playoff first round fodder.

If you were to go ahead with the move that is on the wire (Gay for Monta + ?), Then something built around KK (ATL will HAVE to have a competent B/U to Dwight who can start as needed because of injury concern) and one or two of the young pieces and absorb the difference with our cap makes TONS more sense and gives you a very talented and deep Joeger-like roster with a nice mix of athleticism, defense, ball-handling and scoring punch that finally actually makes sense around Boogie. Add to that the fact that it can't hurt to be very deep in bigs (what hurt teams the most in playoffs this year? Bigs going down hurt without serviceable b/u), and we are in prime position to be able to win seven-game series the same way OKC almost did and Cleveland ultimately did do.

See, small ball works great as long as you have a stopper in the middle and can get out of a series fast (i.e. - 5-6 games MAX). But when people start allowing the game down and beating you up with an endless lineup of nasty bigs who you also cannot stop with a small ball lineup, it stops working.

From a Kings POV how are either of these packages different when trading for Millsap 1 week after the draft? ATL is looking for picks and I've floated this package on the Hawks board with some liking it.

IMO Millsap is worth the money if he is paired with Cousins.

Source told me just now that the Indy potential trade as I mentioned a very long time ago in this thread are trying to pry P.George away in the deal with Gay + Mac and would likely be other parts of the potential deal if anything happens .

Rubio is still a possibility . I am glad to here this news may not happen but at least I know Vlade is trying .

Would Vlade be willing to trade WCS to get PG13? I surely would.

If it meant getting George then Yes I think he would be willing to add him with Gay in a deal for George . I know he prefers to not give him up but may have to if getting George .
I do not know anymore facts on this other than Vlade is trying to get Indy to give up George . If he could do this IMO this would be the biggest and most significant trade the Kings have done since getting Chris Webber . May not happen though .

Agreed. You do what you need to do to land Paul George. Trade anyone not named DMC to get him!

Return to Sacramento Kings
