it all really depends on the quotes

That would be shameful.
They are aggressively going after KD.
And maybe they don't see the others as good enough fits that require losing assets?
They shouldn't be flogged because KD decides to stay put....it was the most likely scenario anyway. But they are being really aggressive.
So many bitter angry fans here that just don't get it.

Ian Mahinmi or Pau Gasol would be atop my list.
As for a Barnes replacement, I'd aim for Allen Crabbe, Marvin Williams, Moe Harkless or even Matt Barnes. I wouldn't pay any of these guys more than 14-15mil per.
You want Ian mahinimi? Ok. Gasol I understand, but we can't pay gasol and crave or Marvin Williams. We can't afford both of them.
I can see us doing something like Gasol for 7mil and Harkless for 10mil. Something along those lines.
7 mill for gasol.......ha!! other contenders are going to offer him several million more tha. That. Even mo harkless is going to make more than 10 now. These guys are cashing in while they can.

They need to wake up and realize that they're not going to get Durant, our chances of getting him are like 10%, they would be better off to now focus on what remaining free agents are left to try and bring in. Durant is going back to OKC on and 1 and 1 contract, mark my word.

What is funny is us in the dark trying to tell GSW management to wake up, after the just had a meeting with him on Friday and we have no idea what was said.

Hilarious that we're less than 24 hours after meeting with the marquee free agent, in a meeting that allegedly went very well, with our having the best, most sustainable basketball situation for the dude, and people are panicking. Not sure what people were expecting when they went to sleep on July 1st or woke up on July 2nd. We are exactly where we want to be......
If I don't have anything funny to say, can I still have a signature?

Durant is going make his decision on Monday. I don't think it's going to hurt us to wait until then even if he's not signing with us.

Some people just can't handle pressure. Or they have a very unrealistic view of life. Imagine how some of these people would react if their house was on fire?

Re: If we give Barnes 20m+
So are we happier giving Barnes 20m+ than giving Luol Deng a deal starting at $16.5mil? They're not dissimilar players.
Barnes: Younger, better shooter, better finisher in traffic(but only because Deng can't do it at all anymore, Barnes is a bad finisher), better rebounder, plays a lot of minutes and has generally avoided injury.
Deng: Better passer, better defender, veteran who makes fewer mistakes.
I guess I'd rather have Barnes than Deng who will be 35 when his contract finishes.

Re: If we give Barnes 20m+
I liked Barne's a lot and don't hate him, but he had his chance to have just one signature game in the playoffs and didn't and we could have used that in the last two series. He had a couple nice games but no more. If we can't find a SF to replace him, then I would think of ways to slide Green or Klay to SF and find a replacement for them. Horford or Wade for example. If no KD.
Barnes is a good perimeter defender, good length to limit passing lanes, decent mid-range jumper, ok'ish long range, bad finisher (the weakest point of the whole team), poor rebounder. Add that all up, we can't find someone that is all around better than that? I'd take a 2 year solution and continue to look longer term if need be.
We really don't need a KD's style output at SF, but I'll take it. We just need a bit more... that would have got'n us 2 in a row imo. Now it may take more next year with some teams close being even better after moves.

Two wrongs don't make a...
I am wondering how these really huge contracts play out over the next few years, where a teams has multiple better players than the FA player they just went bonkers with. For example if you give a decent player 22 million, when your best player(s) time comes and you still aren't all the great. You ready to dig deep into that luxury tax keeping everyone on a so-so team? I know we have Curry in this manner but this is a great team already and he's a freakin MVP. If it plays out like that, those not overpaying for mediocrity will reap a bit later down the line. Or it's just more the of same as it ever wuz, just at a different pay scale.
I can't really swallow a Barne's at over 20 million, because he has too many weaknesses that didn't improve enough yet over time and is starting to look like... he is what he is showing us he is.

Re: If we give Barnes 20m+
honestly before finals game 7 I was trying to think of any legal way to prevent Harrison Barnes from playing. Guy is such hot garbage and has been for so long, please get rid of him.
And sadly now that Kerr has gone **** from spinal fluid on the brain, we're gonna miss Luke. This year might suck depending on what happens.

At this stage of their careers, Barnes is a better defender, especially on the wing.
I would be happy with a bigger focus on two things from Barnes and the coaching staff.
1.) A biggerfocus on rebounding. Some of the reason his numbers are shakey is because they have him camped out side, and also the need to get back on defense. I would alter that some.
2.) A real focus to absorb contact and get to the line. It increases his efficiency by going to the line more and increasing his fts made.

D-Wade would be an interesting option. That would seem to mean a three-guard lineup with Klay regularly guarding SFs though...

Re: If we give Barnes 20m+
I am ready to move on from Barnes, mostly because he has shown he's not more than a rotation player. I would rather pay that same money for one of the players who can do what he does, better, but who has more miles on his body.
Devil's advocate, I suppose FO might want to have more younger than older players, and with the way the cap is increasing perhaps even a max deal would be a reasonable, movable piece in a couple years - i.e., they sign him to control their assets.
On the flipside, I'm surprised about the reports of moving Bogut, even if they don't need to free up cap space to sign Durant. Even if they view him as offensively flawed, inconsistent, injurey-prone, you can't have too many quality bigs, and at his salary he is a huge bargain under the new big money era of the NBA.
