In an ideal world where money wasn't an issue, I would rather Horford get almost all of his minutes at PF and have a fourth big who is a true C come off the bench for the remaining C minutes.
A serious Gortat injury has been a big landmine for us the past few years that we have been lucky to avoid. Whether or not we sign Horford, I think we need to get a real and credible dedicated back up C. Even if we manage to get Horford, we aren't going to want to have to play him at C for all of his minutes if Gortat went down.
But I'm afraid that we're not going to have the money to get a good back up C if we sign Horford.
Dare I say it, resign Nene for a year?
I think Nene was a contentious and negative presence in the locker room last season. I don't think I would bring him back at any price. He just isn't on the same page as the rest of our roster. He is just collecting a paycheck at this point, and spends most of his time complaining. The atmosphere in our locker room needs to be youthful and hungry.
