Quake Griffin wrote:Also heard Dylan Hernandez on his piece about Friedman and how he should have went top talent over depth.
My issues with that:
1) There's far more examples of teams with top talent and no depth being poor teams in the MLB than vice versa.
2) We're 44-37 in a WC spot.
3) Cardinals lose Wainwright, Adams, Holliday, and Grichuk for a goid chunk of last year. None replaced with an elite player. 100 wins.
4) our whole rotation is on the DL. Multiple position players as well and my guess is Dylan and the rest of us Dodger fans expect to win tomorrow/ this weekend
#depth
Yeah I read that piece too, and it was a piece of junk. used to think this guy was a decent writer, but appears he is taking a page from TJ simers to beat the deadline with stuff that comes outta his ass now... well at least with this one.

Re: 2016 Regular Season Thread
did anyone else see that paper plane land by the ump with two outs in the bottom of the 8th duing a live at bat??? Trace didn't seem to flinch but that was something I have never seen in baseball before. I know it did not make any impact but that play should have not been counted.

Blanton Barehand
Sounds like I missed a good game with paper-airplane shenanigans and all. I did catch this barehanded play by Joe Blanton along with the fact that Corey Seager is on a 14-game hitting streak currently batting over .300.

Anybody think we're throwing McCarthy out there too quickly. Doesnt have a lot of rehab innings.

Went to fangraphs to see how Seager's June stacked up with the rest of the NL.
He's got some good company...and some other company that I think he will out hit over time. But I was interested, so..... Here.
Might be in order of OPS...which I wanted to see.

jeez, I know that with elements such as sacrifices taken out, it is possible to have a higher BA than BABIP by a little, but Wil Myers according to that stat you posted, is having a statistical abberration for the ages in the last month of June. batting .327 while BABIP in .284? LOL really?
and yeah glad Seager is already an elite and carrying this team.

Re: 2016 Regular Season Thread
our pen as of right now
Jensen
Baez
Liberatore
Coleman
Fien
Blanton
Howell
Hatcher
it's easy to see McCarthy will replace Stewart, but they may keep Urias as a reliver when Ryu is back... so who goes?

Does Fien have options? Seems like he would be most likely despite his performance. Hatcher probably deserves to be sent down if he has options even if he's been better of late.

i personally want Urias shut down. but if he is gonna stick around with Yimi Garcia near his return, I actually want to package Howell or Hatcher in a trade. I might be wrong but Baez and Liberatore are the only ones with options left... Fien might, but I haven't checked.
