I don't think there is a Mav other than Dirk I would want from Dallas, that fits into a S&T.

Question - Barnes has to accept the offer for the team to qualify an offer, right? If Dallas wants to sign him to a contract but he doesn't want to go to Dallas than it doesn't mean anything, right?

What's to fit? If the Mavs have cap space, the Mavs could send cash, draft pick, or non-guaranteed contract to make it work. Teams under the cap after a trade are not required to meet any other trade rule about salary matching.

Correct. The offer is not binding unless Barnes signs it.

We'll be ok

Thanks for the optimism. It's going to be a real challenge and I think the biggest off season for Lacob and company.

What about Dirk and a TPE?

Great point, I forget how far under the cap the are.

They *have* to be far enough under the cap to cover Barnes' first season on that offer.

if we can get Dirk for Barnes that would be great. Its all about timing cuz technically we could get Dirk and Durant...possibly. Its a long shot but easily altered around NBA rules

Of course, but remember we have three of the best dude on the planet on the team already. And they all make guys around them better.

We also have two of the best bench players in the NBA already.

Plus we have a much maligned center, who when right is an amazing defensive player, and possibly the best screen setter inthe NBA.

I'd let Barnes and Ezeli walk, and sign fillers. Even if it's just Rush and Matt Barnes.

No chance of getting Durant and Dirk unless Dirk is signing for the Room MLE ($2.9M).

What about Dirk and a TPE?

The only way Dirk becomes available if Cuban goes into a rebuild. Dirk said he had no interest being part of a rebuilding project. I think Barnes and what other vets he can collect from the less desirables, might still be enough to keep Dirk in Dallas.

Didn't Durant say he will announce before July 9th,
GSW have ten days to match any offer to Barnes even if he signs today...
doesn't that make it possible if you just follow the calendar right? It brings us over the cap but is it possible?

Dirk would sign with the vet minimum if he came here. It's not about the money if he was here, it would be for another ring.

To me, Barnes signals the rebuild.

Anthony Tolliver just got 9m/yr. I think Dirk still wants more than a guy like King Tolly

Doesn't seem right for Barnes to make twice as much as Curry.

it doesn't seem right if Barnes got paid more than Livingston, let alone Curry, Klay, or Draymond

If I'm doing the match right: The moratorium ends July 6th, Barnes signs the offer sheet that day, we have until the 9th to match it or let him walk. I guess this is why Durant says he'll announce prior to the 9th.
