Definitely disappointing. If the money was there, I certainly thought Horford would by loyal and stick with the Hawks. And I feel that the 5/$136 that we reportedly offered compared to the 4/$113 that the Celtics offered would have made more sense for Al. Disappointed he would jump ship like that. But oh well, gotta move on. I wonder who we're gonna pick up with the money we had earmarked for Al? On the positive side, this may allow us to be a little better balanced by picking up a decent wing and a good backup PG.

I really wanted to see this big 3 front court lineup, but oh well.

I do think Dwight will be 20 and 10 this year. And we finally get a player who can score 40 pts on any given night. He was used very badly in Houston. And if that off season shooting training does improve him, he might be better then I think he is.

Hawks offered the same money with an extra year of security but Horf was still trying to extort an additional 6 million? I don't place blame on management for that, not the caliber of player you break your back over. Bend, sure, but not break.

Ah well, swapped a physically soft diva for a mentally soft diva. Offseason is a wash so far.

Not disappointed at all. I say we made out better because we still have the ability to go find some depth, which is something I was concerned about if we did go for the big 3. I say we should focus on getting Marvin Williams. Stretch 4, rebounds, plays defense at both forward spots, and would be nice to finally cheer for him without the expectations of a #2 overall pick.

Im no Hawks mega fan but will still root for the home team, and believe me the Hawks are better without Horford! He's a poor rebounder and ok , slew footed defender! AH was always getting out-rebounded by smaller and taller more physical players! All the Hawks have to do now is a get a better SG than Korver tha can defend and can slash to the rim!

I believe Marvin has already re-upped in Charlotte for about 54 mil.

Shucks. My cousin blew my phone up while I was sleep to tell me Horford went to Boston, so I was out of the loop. Oh well.

Should the hawks even try to get Wade?

Who else is left to get?

Well Bud added 7M to his original Howard offer, so it is all about who has leverage.

It's a shame we didn't get something for Al, but I guess that was tough. I truly hate to see anyone help Boston in any manner, so we just added another tough challenge in the East.

Do we have any more cards left to play? We still need shooting and a backup PG.0

Glad to see Marvin still getting paid, but I don't want to pay him 54M, watch him get 30 min, and post 8/4 in the box score.

I like that question about Wade....would he be willing to come here and have better weapons to go up against LBJ than he had at MIA this past year?
If I was willing to pay Al 136M, I would pay DWade 3/54....

Scoring off the bench/shooting and back up point seems to be left. Dirk is still out there. Vazquez, Deron, Bayless, and Jack as far as PG's go. Allen Crabbe and Maurice Harkless if we want to add more to the starting lineup and make Portland match a high offer. Donatas possibly. Other than that, we might would have to attach an asset to Splitter in a trade for something useful if we could get Cole Aldrich for cheap.

I think we have like $3.5ish million in cap. Renouncing Scott adds $3.3 mil. Trading Splitter adds $8.5 mil but then we're stuck looking for a big man too. Our well has gone dry after having to use pure cap to re-sign Baze.

Bingo.

I can't say with any certainty that Hawks are a better team today than last season.

But I can say for sure that Celtics are a better team than their previous iteration.

Pacers are better than last year, also.

And now we've missed out on a ton of second tier Free Agents and trade targets.

Plus, Millsap goes into a contract year with the knowledge that we attempted to deal him because we prefer Howard AND Horford.

And now Bazemore is the fourth highest paid player in Atlanta Hawks history...avg a career high 12 ppg?

I...am at a loss.

Would you have preferred they keep Teague and then be forced to either vastly overpay him or watch him walk?

I don't think players hold a grudge that their name might have come up in some rumors. They are professional enough to know it is part of the business.

That's so unbelievably unfair to the Atlanta fans. It took some winning but a couple years ago Phillips was one of the loudest arenas in the NBA, post-January, in 2015.

The fans also come out come playoff time. I went to every single playoff game this past year and the fans were absolutely loud: especially in the Cavs series.

It's unfair to continue feeding into the all to common narrative of "Atlanta just has bad sports fans" when we've gotten much better since the Joe era.

But hey, in those moments when we were getting beat the fans were taken out of it, his son's pathetic playoff performance did nothing to help the cause.

Thank you for sharing that information.
Unbelievable and classless on the part of Horford's dad.
