I'm just as upset that we didn't land Horford, but you just have to come to terms with the fact that once he was gone, the free agent market is thin as hell, meaning the only realistic thing you can do is build a better bench. 4/64 is fair for Mahinmi. He's a good player. I don't care what direction the team goes in as long as they sign good players. Still a lot of cap available and a couple of players with upside.

1 - The disappointment of losing out on Horford stings like Hell and Mahinmi is a huge step down from him in quality. Horford was probably our big shot to take the step up into the upper echelon of the conference during the Wall era and now it's gone.
2 - We already have a player that's better and cheaper than Mahinmi soaking up 30 minutes a game in Gortat and both are pure centers.
We are probably going to have to trade Gortat to get the 6 win share player that Mahinmi was for Indy last season. Otherwise he's going to languish on the bench playing in a second unit that can't create shots for him. Mahinmi has zero ability to create offense for himself. He is much, much better playing as a starting C with good PnR ball handlers that can feed him around the basket.
Ernie can salvage this. But he's going to have to move Gortat for a really good and useful player to do it.
Until last season, he fouled wayyyyyy too much to be considered one of the best defenders in the NBA. He still fouled too much last season, but he wasn't way out of control - like he was for his entire career - until last season. One year with Dallas, he averaged 8.6 fouls per 40 minutes in limited playing time. Other than last season's 4.9, his low was 5.8. He self-limits the amount of minutes he can play. And he's going to start next season at 30, so don't expect improvement.

Contracting the team from the NBA would be dramatic and sensible at this point for all of our sake's, and especially our families and future generations of potential Wizards victims (fan isn't really the right word at this point).

Well, in fairness, we took Mike Pence off their hands. Taking back Mahinmi is the least they can do.

Just thinking about all the things we did and chose not to do so we could sign Durant.
Instead we now sign Ian Effin mahinmi. Most dissaponting franchise in sports.

Completely disagreeing with me for wanting to sign Dwight Howard and moving Gortat for good talent and...now wanting to start Ian Mahinmi and move Gortat for good contracts.
lmao

Sullinger wouldn't have been a bargain, now off the market. But how does Cleveland have any cap room? Something seems wrong.

Wow... There must be a way to package Gortat and maybe Otto for Kevin Love here...

I have a hard time seeing anything positive about this Mahinmi move. He's the definition of a backup. He was so good starting for the Pacers last year that he averaged only 25 minutes a game and they seemingly had no interest in bringing him back. He doesn't block shots, nor score, and his rebounding ability is overrated. Welcome back Etan Thomas.

So what's next? Do we have enough to sign Harkless? Any bargain 3+D types out there?
Making extreme statements like "only" sounds like there are "no" Jokics in this draft? Jokic is an engine that was drafted in the 2nd round. Always a chance to see diamond dropped by sloppy burgular after a theft.

THANK GOD
Andrew Nicholson to Wiz per Woj
4yrs 26mil
Not a big name but a young possible S4 to develop, the only thing that worries me is ORL pretty much gave up on him but it was Scott Skiles coaching

That's the kind of players Wizards should target with potential to develope. I like this guy, should be solid strech-4

Nicholson hopefully will help the bench's offense; he'd look better with Wall serving him up open 3's but prob won't share much time with him. Hope his D looks better with a good defensive Center behind him.

Ernie's job right now is to give me any reason whatsoever to watch Washington Wizards games next season. Like, a singular reason.
Because I'm at a loss right now.

Love the Nicholson signing. Contract seems fair. Don't know how they can get that but vomit all over themselves with the Ian one. Finish off with Tomas and a SF

I don't see how this is a good signing. He is a 30 year old with an NBA body that plays in the NBA for a team and once their coaching staff, fans, GM and owner realize he isn't good enough for a roster spot he gets sent to a lower league for "development" before signing with another NBA team that hasn't seen him play or practice and thus they don't know he isn't a quality NBA player. Notice- the Spurs to the D-league to the Mavericks to a lower league in France to the Pacers and if my pattern recognition software is working right he should be "sent down" again at this point....but Erine once again GrunFailed and signed someone that wouldn't start on any of the teams we need to beat to make it to even the lowest rung of the revelvance ladder- the playoffs- in a league were more teams than not make the playoffs and we missed it last year...it looks like this year we will be coming into the season with an even worse roster! HOW DID THIS HAPPEN???
