I try and look at things glass half full but I can't this time. Not saying we'll be horrible next season. Probably 43 win team, maybe 45 if Beal can play more than 70 games. These latest acquisitions are mediocre at best, but this is turning out to be the most disappointing offseason in the history of the franchise. No Durant, No Horford, No Satoransky. No athletic, young bigs or wings (yet).
So barring a Gortat trade, the bench is PF Nicholson, C Mahinmi, SF Oubre/Eddie, PG Burke, SG McClellan (until we sign another wing)

Wesley Johnson - a bust as a high draft pick, but a guy who has gotten good over the years. Three years $18m. I would have been happy to have him for that or a bit more as the primary backup to Porter.
There are guys out there who produce well at a reasonable cost. Unfortunately, we can't see them.

Nope. Not a good signing in the least. Does nothing particularly well and managed to earn 800 minutes on a team that wasn't as good as ours last year. Turns 27 later this year, so forget about him having future development potential in him. Quincy Acy would have been a lot better -- much more effective, younger, probably will go cheaper as well.
Nicholson seems like a nice kid, though. That's a plus.
I like Acy, seems to be a good player. But he turns 26 in october... If you're going to detract from the Nicholson signing for various reasons... fine... but not like 26 year ols make massive leaps either. Be consistent with your analysis.
Also, Nicholson took 7 3s per 36, Acy took like 2... I think one of these is a legit S4 while the other is a 4/5 who CAN hit a three. Ideally, I'd like both
There's 10 months difference between their ages.

Decent player but not much of a 3-point shooter. Probably much better value than Harkless, who might be out of our price range right now.

I'd rather actually develop a young player and use Oubre as Porter's primary backup. Nicholson's a 4 and Johnson's a 3, so what has one got to do with the other?

If Oubre is ready to go, he's fine as the backup 3. If that's the case, you might as well re-sign Alan Anderson. But nobody knows if he's ready mentally and physically to be the backup 3 guy and it's ok to get insurance.

Not to mention that Trey Burke has been just awful, a complete bust. Oh man, is this going to be a painful year.
The only good thing I can think of is that I really can't imagine Ernie surviving this debacle.
They're giving up a 2021 2nd round pick.....
If Ernie is still here, count on that being the #31 pick in the draft! And everyone says that's going to be a great draft too!
President Donald Trump referred to African countries, Haiti and El Salvador as "shithole" nations during a meeting Thursday and asked why the U.S. can't have more immigrants from Norway.

Hmm. I'm not as impressed with picking up Burke if we're not able to pair him with Sato.

Ooh. This is a much better deal than the Mahinmi signing.

Keep in mind that some months are longer than others.
So far, for a Wizards fan, this month has been extremely long!

Honestly I think tomas could be the difference in a 43 and 53 win season for us this year. He is that good and what he does is going to be that needed for the way our team is shaping up. He would also be the difference between us going top 3 worst in the league if beal goes down and hanging in at 500 or better. I fell like he is that good! I might be over estimating him but he is better than any option left on the market. Fire up the plane and send John all him self to go get this deal done.

Nothing to do with Nicholson, why do you ask?
I'd love to develop a young player, Ruz. And it would be great if Oubre improved enough to be a rotation player behind Porter. But, he was terrible last year. He had moments, sure, and he has potential. Overall, however, he was awful.

I guess you missed the tweet about Sato one or two pages back, huh?
As to your wild overestimation of his impact, the place to start is to ask how ever we would be a 43 win team without him?
I mean before he alone and on his own adds 10 wins -- a wild idea but I do like your optimism. Give me some of whatever you're smoking, ok?
