It actually isn't ok.

Okc is the worst place for him to stay.

That Kenny anderson "source" could be anyone simply repeating "conventional wisdom". I will believe it when a real source says it officially

CavemanDoctor wrote:I posted something about this in the other KD thread but thought it was worth repeating. We keep hearing GS has a great shot but I'm just not seeing it. I think it's either OKC (likely, obviously), or Boston.

In 2013, SI did a piece on KD where he talked about how much he hated being 2nd in life: http://www.si.com/nba/point-forward/2013/04/23/kevin-durant-oklahoma-city-thunder-sports-illustrated-cover

Relevant quote:
“I’ve been second my whole life,” Durant tells SI's Lee Jenkins in a profile that will hit newsstands on Thursday. “I was the second-best player in high school. I was the second pick in the draft. I’ve been second in the MVP voting three times. I came in second in the Finals. I’m tired of being second. I’m not going to settle for that. I’m done with it.”

Durant wants to be the guy. He has this insatiable need to get out of the '2nd' limelight. Knowing this about him, do you find it likely he joins a team that just won 73 games? A team who boasts a back-to-back MVP, the sole unanimous winner of the award in history? A team, mind you, that just eliminated your team weeks prior? He would clearly be second fiddle to Curry. Second. That word again.

Most players wouldn't want to leave such a legacy, especially not a guy who's had issues with being second his whole life, right? I'm just not buying it, fellas. Not when there's a very compelling alternative destination, a team that just signed a guy you reportedly want to play with, the second biggest free agent of this class, a team that has a ton of assets, and a top 3 coach.

OKC is the only threat in my mind, and it's a big one for obvious reasons. Even still, Horford stated he couldn't get assurances that KD and Russ were fully committed for the long term, presumably it's the fear that Russ will leave for the Lakers in a year. And with Ibaka now gone as well, that team is on shakier grounds than we think. Not to mention, this past year Russ got more MVP votes than KD and the media were starting to call it his team at times. I wonder how Kevin felt about that.

It's still a long shot but we have a much better chance than we may think.

This may be one of the deciding factors.

I do think given Curry/Klay did choke a little bit in the finals to go alongside Barnes and other Warriors not playing well, he could in the long run be considered the 1A on Golden State by the national media at least.

But even the 1A to Curry being the 1B on Golden State doesn't get him the positive adulation that KD would receive in Boston as the teams unquestioned megastar. GS would be more like the OKC situation with just a heck of a lot more talent 3-5.

Golden State takes him out of all future MVP consideration in all likelihood. Boston puts him in the top 1-3 if he is healthy.

Celtics with KD can easily win 62 games without even trying hard. Who gets the credit for that? The under the radar Horford, a 5"9 PG or KD?

KD gets lions share of the credit.

I'll believe he's returning to OKC when A. Sherrod Blakey reports he's signing with the Celtics.

The reason MN isn't getting meeting is since they don't have IT/Bradley/Smart(players I like) and they don't have cap room and tons of picks going forward. And MN does make Boston seem warm....

The Celtics could not tank hard enough to land Towns & Wiggins while retaining guys like IT and Bradley....and Crowder. More likely (by far) they would have ended with guys like Embiid/Parker & Russell/Okafur. That is the point. They were not out tanking teams like Philly and Minny those years without dismissing almost all there talent. It's OK....Ainge knows what he is doing.

It reads like your saying you'd like KD chances in the East once LeBron declines.

Well LeBron isn't declining yet, certainly not next season, so yeah....

Dude. Read his post five posts above the one you responded to.

He was saying he thinks we have a good shot to land Durant and that perhaps he's including Lebron's decline in his decision and you're making it out like he said something bad about us?

You might not like him but Lebron is a fantastic basketball player. Orlwillbeback meant nothing negative.

Ya dude, I got your quote the first time. Going in for seconds is overkill.

Holy mother of annoying you are....

I don´t put too much credit in the Anderson tweet. It might me someone thinking it makes sense or something but I am sure no one knows right now what KD will do for a fact.

Let´s wait

I still believe he will choose us ;)

A source told ESPN a few days ago he was 90% returning to OKC. These guys aren't exactly going out on a limb here...

I'll only believe it when Raef LaFrentz weighs in...

No way Wade's taking a starting salary of $14M after taking discounts for years and seeing how all the scrubs are getting paid big money. That's the most Heat could offer if they're maxing KD. Safe to say Heat are out at this point? Or with Pat the Rat you never know?

Yeah it's not happening. Wade has 3 rings. He's not leaving about 10m per year on the table and that scenario of trading Dragic away isn't particularly appealing to Durant IMO. Then he's paired with Bosh, who's 32 and has heart problems. Wade, who's 34 and has his own injury history, and Whiteside. That's not much of a window for a team that isn't even clearly better than Cleveland in the first place.

Honestly after the back and forth with Horford I won't believe any speculation until its official or its a woj bomb. I still believe Durant is coming to Boston. Positive vibes til I hear otherwise. It's all about 18!!!

Voulgaris hinting Durant to GS is done. He's fairly tied in, so possible.

If he was going back to OKC, it would've already happened. I'm feeling really good.

Spoiler:
it could definitely just be the booze though.
