So just thinking outside the box, but if its likely he is signing a 1+1 wherever he goes, any chance he signs with the Warriors knowing its his best shot at a ring next season but then the following year actually explores FA and looks for the best situation for himself long term?

Obviously still going to turn him into a villain but just looking for any possible silver lining if he doesn't come here that maybe it isn't completely over, just for this year.

Assuming he does go to GS, he will still be ridiculed as he should be. He is still joining a team that has been to the finals two years in a row while winning one. A team that clearly doesn't need his help to win a title.

You are right that he will still be ridiculed. That is for sure but it will be comparable to perhaps the Lebron ridicule and not something 10 times worse with not enough upside and tons of downside.

Imagine GSW with KD losing the title next year after winning the two previous titles with him. He would be the laughingstalk of the entire league.

That possibility went out the window when GSW lost this year and Cavs got a lot of deserved hype by winning it.

Would be way worse then the LeBron fiasco, considering the circumstance of the teams both guys were only prior to moving and the circumstances of the team the signed to.

The LeBron backlash came from "The Decision" special. But no one faulted him for leaving a supporting cast of Mo Williams, the corpse of Shaq and Antwan Jamison for greener pastures.

KD meanwhile has Westbrook, a team that had a 3-1 WCF lead and would choose to go to a 73 win team that he just blew that 3-1 lead to.

KD deserves WAY more roasting then LeBron ever did.

I agree with you but perception has a lot to do with it as well. Lebron got that ridicule for how he did it and the fact he was leaving his hometown team.

I agree with you that is shouldn't matter that much on whether or not GSW won it last year but I think it does in the mind of large segments of the public/media/players.

And if KD joins the Warriors, he is just taking advantage of that.

Yep. I knew him having that meeting with Riley was not a good thing for our chances. Hell I can live with getting the stigma of not being able to land a free agent off the legacy of Boston. But it's not going to matter anyways because the Warriors are going to go on a string of titles because KD is seemingly a puss bag.

Cousins or Butler without KD doesn't get us past the Cavs. Why on earth would we give up a top 5 draft pick for either of them?
