I think the main reasoning behind this is that Bogut is making 11M and he only plays 20 minutes game, meaning... we still need 28 more minutes at the center position (when healthy) even though we have a starting center. During the last 10 games of the playoffs, he played over 20 minutes twice.

That said i was thinking of possible destinations for him. He's still a good player and isn't paid an obscene amount of money but he's probably better off as a backup center for a team who already has a good center.

The place i came up with first is Orlando.
Bogut to Orlando for the 2019 Lakers 1st rd pick (which may end up being 2017 & 2018 2nd rd picks).

Orlando gets an elite defensive center to backup their offensive center Vucevic. They also get championship experience and more toughness to go with Ibaka.

GSW clears capspace and gets a maybe great asset, maybe couple minor assets. Not sure if this is too much for Orlando to give up. We could change it to a pick swap (our options) if the pick is conveyed if that seems to make more sense.

Orlando has enough capspace to take on Bogut and still go FA shopping.

2nd option i was looking at is Indiana.

Bogut to Indiana for either a future pick swap or future lotto protected 1st (else 2 2nds).

Indiana has a young center that they are grooming but Bogut would help them compete immediately and they don't need to commit to Mahimi longterm.

I don't see Bogut fetching much via trade (such as a first round pick) for the same reason that you're suggesting we move on from him - you can't depend on him to play very much, and $11M is still a decent amount of money for a guy who may only give you 1 year with your team (or really, a partial year). If we move him, I'd be stunned if we got a first-rounder back.

We have a very hard call. We LIKE Bogut. We do. He is....soon to expire, is not cheap, has age/injury factures that will mean he's got little..or no.... trade value. So? We'd LIKE to keep him. However..... if we really try to add a FA that's some $.....the likely thing is Bogut + Barnes are gone.

Is there any way we can S&T Barnes to Philly? With the recent rumor that they will be going after him hard is there a way we agree to give Harrison Barnes the extra max year of a contract only we can offer (and convincing HB to go to Philly) in exchange for some assets from the 6ers, or is that for UFAs only? I wonder what kind of value Philly sees in Barnes, and if we add a player like Looney or Jones could we sneak Noel or Okafor?

I highly doubt we could get Noel or Okafor, but for Barnes maybe we could possibly a 2nd rd pick, Grant, or Covington. (??)

You are probably right. Maybe a pick swap or some 2nds (??). He should have some value, but if we have Durant ready to sign on the dotted line, we won't be in any position to haggle.

If so maybe we do Barnes for Covington and Landry. Which would help our depth.

But sign and trades will be rare according to the capologists.

Landry is guaranteed 6.5 next season and Covington for a million. So not sure if that works with a Barnes sign and trade. I think Philly would be crazy to do this, but I do know that Landry isn't needed there and actually would take minutes from young guys.

Philly can sell the future of Their bigs, plus Simmons and Barnes.

We want to know what Durant is doing. If he stays in OKC on a 1+1 we're set up NICE for next summer.... so....want to NOT get salary that drags on. Barnes? Philly has CAP to sign him. They may be happy to unload Landry.. less into losing Covington.

I'd be happy to get Covington straight up for Barnes.. who... may price himself beyond our interests.

Half the GSW roster is UFA or RFA. Much of the rest.. we want to keep.

So what do you guys think of the team I have put together so far in GMAT.

PG: Stephen Curry / Patrick McCaw
SG: Klay Thompson / Kyle Korver / Brandon Rush
SF: Robert Covington / Harrison Barnes
PF: Draymond Green / Thaddeus Young / James Michael McAdoo
Cc: Tyson Chandler / Damian Jones

I traded Bogut for Tyson Chandler, Looney and a 2019 1st for Covington and Iggy + Livingston for Thad Young + Kyle Korver.

Just need to hunt another backup PG and C I think and this team is as good a 3 point shooting team as you will ever see. Any thoughts on cheap up and coming PGs and C's I should target? Or even ring chasers?

Suns fan here, what do you guys think of this, you get another solid SF and. A center who could get you over the top with his defense and rebounding. Exactly what you need

Suns- Okefor
76ers- Barnes
Warriors- tucker, chandler

And what does Barnes think? You can't force him to just any team.

No, he can't. The maximum he could get in a S&T is exactly the same as he would get in a max RFA offer from the Mavs.

Can the 6ers still write him an offer sheet as well? And if so, can Barnes reject the Mavs offer and take the 6ers (even though they're the same amount) or is he just locked into the Mavs offer at this point?

Barnes is no longer an RFA, he's a UFA. We rescinded the qualifying offer and we have no bird rights on him. I'm not sure if the Barnes deal is official yet though, the official start of FA was only recent. If not he can technically do a DeAndre and back out.

Yeah, I get tht he was recinded and is no longer Warropr property. What I was wondering is whether or not other teams can jump into the mix at this point if they wanted to or whether he's locked into the Mavs deal.

Warriors: PF-Jordan Mickey
Celtics: PF-James Michael McAdoo and cash

Warriors get a young shot-blocking PF in Jordan Mickey to compliment a tough rebounding C in Zaza Pachulia while runner up for defensive player of the year in back to back year Draymond Green play PF to compliment a undersized, athletically challenged, old David West at C.

Celtics get a young, active, good character, low maintenance, ready to play, more polished PF in James Michael McAdoo. It also creates less of a logjam at the PF and C position for the Celtics with Al Horford, Amir Johnson, Kelly Olynyk, Tyler Zeller, and Jonas Jerebko.

I personally would trade McAdoo for a thumbnail of belly button lint, so it's probably best for me to not comment on this....

Minor tangent, but important to note that rescinding a RFA's qualifying offer alone doesn't do away with a player's Bird rights (See footnote 7: "If a team withdraws its qualifying offer on or before July 23 it retains its Bird rights to the player" http://www.cbafaq.com/salarycap.htm#Q44). The team also had to renounce the FA's exception rights, which Golden State did to also renounce Barnes' $9,683,495 Cap Hold to fit KD in cap room.

Since Barnes became a UFA he wasn't locked into the Mavs deal because as a UFA, a player is free to sign with any team of his choosing. Barnes was locked (literally) into the Mavs deal once he signed it:
