And no one will until at least next season where the Free Agency class is pretty deep. Even then Westbrook looks LA bound and Griffin and CP3 will more than likely take the Max in Clipperland....

Pft, that's when we trade for Butler, go hard after Griffin in 2017 to sell him on being the Great Green Hope to take down the Warriors, and go into 2017-18 season with a starting lineup of IT/Butler/Brown/Griffin/Horford. :D

If he just wants a title, I don't even know why he needs to meet anyone. Just meet with Boston and tell them to keep their cap room open for the next 1-2 years and sign a 1 + 1 deal with GSW.

If Curry/Green/Klay get hurt bolt to GSW for a team like BOS or any other better option at that time than GSW.

I am hoping things like fan base/maximizing legacy/chance to beat Lebron next year in the playoffs with only 1 perceived major star on his team swings his decision to Boston.

But from a pure basketball perspective tough to compete with

Curry
Klay
Iggy
KD
Green

Other teams would just be hoping for twisted ankles which could happen.

I disagree. Curry, Thompson and durant are primarily scorers. Who is going to take a subservient role.? Curry is going to not score 30 a game. If I am curry, I tell him we don't need you.

Sent from my iPad using RealGM Forums

Klay will take the subservient role and probably just score 20 PPG. Curry/KD 25 ppg each.

Curry is a willing passer... I am sure he likes the MVPs but at the end of the day he is going to sacrifice and happily do so if it means adding KD.

The real question is whether KD is ok with probably going down in NBA history as an inferior player to some players I honestly think he is better than.

KD wins 2 titles with GSW and one as the finals MVP.... His legacy ends up better than it may be by staying with OKC but still not as good as it probably deserves.

But if he wins 2 titles in BOS with one being the MVP of the entire league and both as Finals MVP, it gives him a shot to surpass a lot of NBA players in the all time rankings. He would have beaten Lebron at least twice in the playoffs without having another major star on the roster...

Golden State can't give him that.

Kind of about to KD and what he wants.... 3 good choice IMHO. I sure hope he chooses Boston.

I find it odd that GS is considered such a favorite.

Im not going to outline whats already been said about legacy and the roster and all of that but it just seemed weird that he had a short meeting with GS and you didn't hear anything regarding it going that well or anything, then we get this super long meeting and had all this hype about Durant being super impressed and him flying to Boston with Brady (I know they said that about the clippers but I mean it was Broussard so, come on.).

IDK it just seemed like we had the biggest connection with Durant of the process.

This wouldn't be anything like Ray Allen joining Miami. It's not just Boston (and OKC) fans who'd think a lot less of him. Look around realgm and reddit, there's already a ton of pre-backlash if he signs with GS cause many, many people will see the league as a farce. I'm sure Silver and co. don't want him to sign with GS. Durant is not a stupid man. I know the rumors of him signing with GS have been there forever -- not doubting that -- but the guy cares about his legacy and reputation. Let's not forget how sensitive he was about being 'too nice' early in his career, even had a damn ad campaign centered around it. He cares about how he's viewed. This isn't some Boston fan bias. He must know that if he joins a 73-win team, he'll be seen as a loser, title or not.

I just can't get over that.

And that's why I'm still holding out hope.

KD has self-respect, he won't choose GSW or Miami.

I kind of think with decisions this important, these meetings are almost entertainment/just confirmation to NBA super star players. Lebron was probably gone to Miami before even meeting with Riley.

If teams play their cards to their best of their ability, I can't fathom KD changing what he things that much from before the meetings.

I mean, I suspect his agents/handlers have written up good reports on each of these teams prospects going forward that cuts through the hype that all teams will present.

The risks involved with each choice et cetera. Not hard to do. And it would be foolish not not do that with his legacy and a lot of money on the line.

Does he really want to base the decision too much on whether OKC/BOS/GSW have the best presentation? I highly doubt it but obviously if things are close everything matters.

I just think things were close before the meetings and Horford did raise the Celtics prospects but just not by a ton since KD plus 26 million to spend is not a bad option....

But if KD chooses Boston, obviously he is going to play up the Horford angle and say great things about all of the Celtics players.

I would kind of feel sorry for KD if he chooses Miami. It would show that he probably doesn't have much of a brain or he doesn't give a damn about bball and just wants to go to South Beach to party.

Sadly, it's looking like it's GSW for KD. I'm hoping it's just a 1+1 for a chance to go after him again next year, but I seriously doubt he does a 1+1 anywhere else but with OKC. Any other team, and I think he signs long-term.

Just saying, rich folks (Wyc) don't like bad PR or to be made to look like a fool. Wyc's "fireworks" comments have more or less made him look bad, really bad actually. He obviously didn't know this was going to happen, but now that it has lined up this way Wyc saves MAJOR face if we ink Durant officially tomorrow on the fning 4th of July. Might be a reason to wait till tomorrow. It could also be me talking myself into as well. Yes, he saves face anyways, but think about it...

I'm sorry, but I just can't believe that IF Durant leaves OKC it would be to STAY in the west. Doesn't make sense at ALL. Top level professional athletes, especially in the NBA, care immensely about their brand. They have entire ad agencies that deal with it. The guy has his own dynamic website just for himself. Also, there's no way in hell that Nike or UA wants two major players to risk one of them outshining the other on the same team, no way.

To me it's Boston or OKC and the REALLY short in-person meeting with OKC today, in my mind, doesn't bode well for OKC. Why wait to announce if you're going back to OKC?

Relax. We got this one Celtic fans!
Durant and Westbrook were mentored by the ultimate competitor in Kobe Bryant. Kobe couldn't bear to hear that he couldn't win a ring without Shaq, and he proved his critics wrong twice.
Durant has said that he believes he is the best player in the NBA. The best player does not go to GSW and piggyback for a ride. Kobe never wanted to piggback on Shaq. The best player takes on the challenge of leading a team to a championship, and embraces going after Lebron James. He'll be a Celtic because this will represent the ultimate challenge, taking a team of young talent and role players to the promise land and defeating this year's Finals MVP.

I hope it is not about his brand world wide and more about his US legacy....

In the US a good deal of negatives going to GSW but do we really think people in China/India/South America/Europe care if KD is joining GSW.

They probably want to see that freak show on offense, unfortunately. In the US much more of a mixed picture.
