Is Adam Silver going to step in like David Stern did in 2011?

Post#1 » by RIP Kobe » Mon Jul 4, 2016 3:52 pm

Flashback to 2011 of course

http://www.sbnation.com/2011-nba-free-agency/2011/12/9/2622879/chris-paul-trade-l-a-lakers-basketball-reasons

No one, aside from Warrior fans (obviously) is happy about the decision.

Can Adam Silver step in and do something about it?

EDIT:

I understand it was a trade in 2011, and that the league owned the Hornets at the time.

I'm a lifelong Laker fan and love the move. It was a no-brainer.

It's free agency he can decide on his own. The only reason Stern stepped in was because the NBA technically owned the hornets the time.

I doubt it. Stern stepped in because the NBA was technically in control of the Hornets franchise at the time; this is nothing like that situation at all, as it is a FA signing, as opposed to a trade, and the NBA should have no say over this given that it is a perfectly legal signing.

No, Stern only did that because the Lakers had won too many titles. My Warriors have only won 1 title in the last 30 years and we absolutely deserve to go on a run of 7 or 8 titles.

According to the rules, the trade in 2011 was perfectly legal as well..

As the commissioner he should be able to step in, in my opinion. It's not just a knock on KD, it's anyone trying to form a super team. It ruins the league. We need parity, not the opposite.

League was the owner so they vetoed the trade. It was the right decision too. That trade was bad for them. Instead they were able to tank and got Davis. Any smart owner would not have accepted that trade.

I'm not sour about KD going to GS.

Would've been worse if he had gone to BOS or SAS.

Trade wasn't vetoed for being illegal, it was vetoed the same way a Michael Jordan could veto a trade that Cho makes.

No because that was a trade. He can't stop a player from signing wherever he wants

As far as I remember, it was something like the Lakers proposing a deal and the Hornets ownership (the NBA/David Stern) declining it.

If he went to Boston it would at least slightly challenge Lebron's 15 year ticket to the Finals.

No, because the Warriors are the NBA's favorite team and they protect them. However, Stern was a declared anti-Laker and that's why he vetoed CP3 trade.
