Woj: Hawes on block, CHA targeting Hibbert,Zaza,Hill or Festus

@WojVerticalNBA
Sources: Charlotte still trying to move Spencer Hawes contract to clear additional space for a center. Hibbert and Zaza are top of the list.

who has cap space to take Hawes? 76ers? Lakers?

I would take Hibbert over Zaza too.

I wonder if we plan on starting one of them?

why move Hawes to clear room? Move Lamb, he is the easier player to replace. Hawes leaves to make room for a center, we still need a 3rd center.

we still need a 3rd center if we dump Hawes for a center.

guessing dump Hawes for one of these guys and use the room exception for a 3rd center. sign York or Quarterman to be 3rd PG.

if we trade Hawes for nothing, we would have about 11million in cap space, that isn't enough for Festus probably.

I don't get wanting Hibbert. That dude hasn't been the same since that mystery rumor about the women ruining the Pacers locker room. Does anything think he can still play? He's been god awful for almost two years.

We clearly are prioritizing a defensive C over Hawes.

Hibbert is probably worse than Hawes. Hill and Zaza are good offensive center but are poor defenders. Festus is the best of the bunch but he is likely too expensive and has big injury problems.

Or, ya know, maybe take a defensive big at 22 instead of using space (space we're now trying to clear) on another marginal wing.

I can't imagine it'll be that hard to move Hawes given the contacts that have been signed this summer.

Blazers will not pursue Festus Ezeli or Nene and will turn their attention to Zaza Pachulia

So how would this work? Doesn't Charlotte have to take someone back with a similar salary in order to pursue a trade? If that is the case, then the player received would have to be released, I guess.

Besides that, Hawes and Walker were the only two Hornets to show any real fight in the playoffs. Zeller was trying, but intensity is not his middle name.

Not if the team has available cap space, like us with the incoming Belinelli trade (which is now a deterrent to us signing a big *sigh*).

I can't believe it's looking like we are going to be keeping Belineli.

Two things about this.

(1) Last time Woj tweeted about our plans we did the polar opposite of what he said (trade Lamb / Hawes to clear space became trade the pick for salary).

(2) Related, but Woj generally has been out of the loop on our plans. How does he now know who we are targeting? That doesn't seem unintentional.

I wonder if this means we have Lamb going somewhere in the Belinelli trade?

I can't imagine it'd be hard to find someone to take Hawes' deal in this environment.
