it's too bad he's not 30 and on the decline. I bet he could of got 4 years.

Nice deal, hopefully he'll actually get playing time under luke.

I think Byron really destroyed his chances of getting a bigger payday.
It seemed like he was featured and more productive in his stint in Houston before coming to the Lakers.

Love his energy and I'm glad he's still a Laker. An from his tweet he posted looks like he's proud to remain a Laker as well.

Makes sense, unless they find someone really good in the next coming days they'll likely hold one max slot open for next season.

I know we have Mozgov but I would keep an eye on the Meyers Leonard front, they're so willing to not only chase FAs but toss big deals too and with many teams needing big men already having spent that money, I wonder what Leonard ends up signing for. I think he may be more obtainable than Allen Crabbe or even Moe Harkless.

Crabbe will get a fat offer from what we've seen from the Nets offer and likely Harkless may be retained too and I think Henderson will get a 11-12 mil per year deal for sure.

Crabbe got 4 years 70M, hope Blazers match it and leave Meyers to us. That wish also includes we going after him though.

We have Randle, Nance, Mozgov, Black, Zubac already under contract, plus Deng who will see his fair share at PF

Stop it the scenarios involving other bigs,it ain't happening...enough is enough
Even as it is, there's not enough time to go around for all of them...let's add other bigs as well, sounds like a great idea

A nice deal from the Lakers perspective, thanks BScott.

Excellent! With an actual coach, he can be our Biyombo down the line.

I really hope he gets plenty of playing time under Walton maybe even compete for starting roll?

On a side note the next step better be to signing Bass. Mozgov/Black/Bass Edit: Zubac. I'd roll with that

I actually hoped we could've signed him for longer because he's at an age where he can play extremely well if the coach instills confidence in him and lets him play. Would've been a great steal while his stock was down. He can be a little bit of a space cadet, but so was Lamar and he worked out fine. He better not come in out of shape like he did last fall though, with his strength and explosiveness he has potential to be a serviceable starter in the NBA.

It sucks he never got into a groove last year, but at least he has some disgusting D-league highlights we can enjoy.

I feel like Im repeating myself about our players but I think Tarik can be huge in Luke's offense. Rumor was Byron didnt play him because he was to "nice" :noway:

Fantastic. One of my favorite Lakers the last two seasons. Too bad Byron couldn't figure out how to use his strengths and get him excited about things. Luke will do wonders for a guy who lacks focus. The joy of playing hard all the time will return because of loyalty to coach as opposed to resentment of coach.

Good signing for a bench big... Who knows, maybe he has more in him than that.

Really liked Black's performance. I call him mini-Lebron..the guy is strong as heck and will provide quality minutes off the bench. He's a keeper.

Black's 2nd year is a team option. He will get good minutes in Luke's system. We now have a true center in Mozgov and an athletic stretch center in Black when we face smaller lineups like GSW. Plus, Zubac as our heir. Zubac signed a 3 year deal with 2 years guarantee and I hope the 3rd a team option here.
