I thought I read Diaw was getting shopped to make room.

Can he still play? He's on an expiring.

He's still pretty good and I've always loved watching him play. A decent option to replace some of Turner's playmaking off the bench.

I'd be very happy swapping out Jerebko and Amir for Diaw and Boban.

Smart/Hunter/Brown/Diaw/Boban would be a pretty entertaining bench.

I would throw a Vito Corleone at the Pelicans for Anthony Davis. If they say no (which they would), hold onto those Nets pick like Charlton Heston with a firearm and keep developing the team while keeping an eye out for opportunities.

Nene? Even with his warts and injury history I would prefer him to Zeller and Sullinger.

Two teams that may be interested in moving a big could be Phoenix and Denver. I would see if I could shake any of them loose. Nuggets might need to pick between Jokic and Nurkic and what are the Suns going to do with Len and Chandler? Orlando also has a bit of a log jam.

Free agency only just started, the KD fiasco has finished so Ainge can start looking for GMs to try and swindle in trades again.

Well it seems the Nets have done the impossible and made themselves worse this off season. That's one bright spot.

I would enquire on Vuc most definitely

I also still think that Cousins may finally give up on the Kings and want out, and he has the potential to really make a proper difference, not just an incremental one

If you can make yourself the clear cut second best team in the conference, or a legitimate contender to get to the finals you absolutely still do it... once you get there, you may be an outsider... but you could also be a rolled ankle away from a title

Smitty already said that Cousins is not available... You don't even need to be a genius to figure that out. They brought in several veterans + heading in new arena. 0 chance he gets traded.

The guy literally took a dump on himself to sign with a 73 win team.

I wouldn't give up on everything Celtics though.

We came in second to what looks to be the biggest fraudulent move ever. Yeah it hurts, but it certainly wasn't anything more we personally could've done.

Dur-fraud now has to live with his choice. He choose the negativity over coming here and winning as much as he'll win there. **** him.

Word "literally" really is overused. Now I don't believe for a second Durant did that....

LOL okay "figuratively", but who knows, a man as mentally small as Durant MAY **** himself from time to time...

Yes they are shopping Diaw. Diaw really had a down year last season. I'm not sure if he was hurt or not. I think his playing time most likely got cut due to the additions of Aldridge and David West. Diaw played well two seasons ago. So I'm not sure if he can still play.

So I just heard that with Westbrook refusing to sign an extension with OKC, the Celtics (among others) are pursuing a trade. But Boston isn't willing to give up all that much without a guarantee Westbrook will sign in Boston long term. The deal would apparently be centered around Jaylen Brown, the Nets picks and other young guys (Rozier, Hunter, Mickey, Young, etc.).

Here is the thing, the Celtics want it done in the next couple of days, so they can do what they need before Johnson and Jerebko become fully guaranteed. And neither of those guys is very willing to move back their date again.

The word is that Boston is also pursuing Jimmy Butler again, but the Bulls have no intention of trading him. The Bulls are telling everyone they are building around Butler.

Russell Westbrook is an MVP type of player, and candidate. That's how good he is. A walking Triple double. Put him on the Celtics, and they win 60 to 65 games, and are facing the Cavaliers in the ECF.

At least we're being smart in trying to secure Westbrook for the long term if we're giving up tons, not that keen on giving up all of our picks and more though.

It doesn't have to be right now, which Boston almost assuredly wouldn't be able to get done anyway. The CBA rules are complicated on extensions and it involves having cap space, which the Celtics wouldn't have.

They just want a guarantee he will do it after the season. But that is putting a LOT of faith in the guy. And that is why the Celtics aren't willing to make a godfather offer.

If he was locked up, I'd give up all those picks and not even worry about it. Westbrook is a top 5 to 10 player in the league. You jump if you get the chance.

Russell Westbrook should just sign an extension with the Celtics. We are going to give him the Max, and it becomes his team. No need to go running to the Lakers. Boston is as big of a Market than LA, and has more championships too.

the easiest deal is with the Lakers. They can trade the Kentucky kid and the tape recorder kid classic 50 cents on the dollar trade but at least OKC gets something.

Imagine adding Westbrook and Butler to this team :droop:

Return to Boston Celtics
