you really cant say or do anything at this point, the whole league is bamboozled

ainge should really try and cash in or this is going to treadmill for awhile or straight bust before his eyes , nobody lives forever you gotta do something now before its too late , ainge is getting old.

do whatever you can to trade for a top 5 player...westbrook is that so i would say go for it, offer the 2017 bk pick and two young players of there choice.

Smitty731 wrote:So I just heard that with Westbrook refusing to sign an extension with OKC, the Celtics (among others) are pursuing a trade. But Boston isn't willing to give up all that much without a guarantee Westbrook will sign in Boston long term. The deal would apparently be centered around Jaylen Brown, the Nets picks and other young guys (Rozier, Hunter, Mickey, Young, etc.).

Here is the thing, the Celtics want it done in the next couple of days, so they can do what they need before Johnson and Jerebko become fully guaranteed. And neither of those guys is very willing to move back their date again.

The word is that Boston is also pursuing Jimmy Butler again, but the Bulls have no intention of trading him. The Bulls are telling everyone they are building around Butler.

So, the entire future of the team for a guy who doesn't get you to be a title contender and leaves nothing to trade in order to get there...that's not that much?

Praying Westbrook vows not to resign with us. Losing that 2017 pick will be a bigger dagger than KD not signing with us.

Hang onto Brown and the BKN 2017 pick. BKN 2018, Smart and the other young guys can be dealt for Westbrook.

Do people realize that Westbrook is a top 5 , 6 Talent in the NBA. A MVP candidate and a player who averages a triple double easily. Russell Westbrook turns the Celtics into title contenders the moment he steps on the court. As for Butler no because he doesn't turn the Celtics into title contenders.

Cashing in on them is drafting an 18/19 year old budding superstar. Trading them for a star that doesn't put us over the top is pissing away the potential to actually build a serious contender.

Actually it does. You put Westbrook on the Celtics right now and they're facing the Cavs in the ECF. Same goes for Demarcus Cousins or Blake Griffin. Prospects take too long develop, and it's not granted they may become star players. I feel like some people overrate prospects, because they like the new shiny object and like to see what it might become. In my opinion, I just prefer established NBA players over prospects who may or may not pan out.

Nothing is Westbrook's game suggests he can play in Brad Stevens' offense. And adding him makes your team finished as-is, which is below championship level...pointless trade.

It's only worth trading for Westbrook if we know for a fact he will re-sign with us, which probably won't happen. This guy is as gifted and rare as any potential prospect in the upcoming draft.

Slim chance of getting us past the Cavs. No chance of getting us past the Warriors. So no thank you. I want another banner in the rafters. Only way that gets done is if we build for the future and we're in prime position to do that with these Nets picks. The 2017 pick is a **** godsend. This trash Nets team will almost guarantee us a top 5 pick in an elite Draft class. It's perfect timing to have a top draft pick. This year we got **** because there was only one (maybe 2) superstar prospect. Next year there will be at least 4.

This would be true if KD didn't just join a 73 win team. Next 3-4 years is all golden state. Our young guys, brown and 17,18 pick are our future. I dont trust Russell Westbrook anymore than I trust Chris Paul wanting to be a celtic.

I'm glad Danny Ainge is putting everything on the top. They're no guarantees that a prospect/ Prospects are going to turn into stars. None. If the thunder wanted the 2017 pick, and Russell Westbrook is willing to sign an Extension, then say goodbye to the 2017 Nets pick. Russell Westbrook is a future hall of Famer and deserves the 2017 pick being traded for him. The West was too competitive, and that's why the thunder didn't win a championship.

Put Westbrook on the Celtics without gutting your team, and they're going to ECF if not the Finals.

I do think people here overrate our assets but at the same time they are right to not wanna trade our future away for a guy that may very well bolt next year.

2017 BKN pick and 2 of our young guys, yes.

OKC don't want to lose their second star for nothing.

 We trade the Nets picks for Westbrook and I would not at all be surprised if the Thunder win a title before us.

You really think if Russell Westbrook agreed to sign an extension with the Celtics, that Danny Ainge wouldn't trade for him and ship out the 2017 Nets pick. Come on now.

I think all the KD chaos people are forgetting the Cs signed Horford. Ainge will stay his course. He doesn't just plan on one thing, then it doesn't work out and call it a day. It's July 5.

That's happening anyway. Take our **** sandwich, or **** off and find another trade partner. No way a competent GM gives up two top 5 picks for a team that maxes out as a conference finals exit.

Westbrook isn't signing any extension so I really hope we aren't exploring a trade with our best assets.

If this deal goes through, I'm gonna be talking so much **** when Westbrook throws key turnovers in the clinching Game 5 of the conference finals about how we pissed away our future.
