Re: KD to GS - Pt III
Well, Lebron figuratively can become God and literally GOAT if he takes them down next year, so there's that. Although the contrast between the reaction to this and 2010 makes me almost want to crown him GOAT already, not just BOAT.

Barnes sucks. I would recruit too if he was on my team.

I'm just glad my Cavaliers won it this year or man this move would actually hurt me a lot lol.
And yet it was LeBron that has moved on to greener pastures twice already so why the hate for KD?
First off I hated LeBron for his first move, but even his wasn't this bad. Not to mention LeBron was still actually the leader of his team in Miami... KD in GS not so much.
Secondly, LeBron left after winning Miami 2 rings, to go back home and fulfill his promise, and join forces with a team who had potential but wasn't at the level of Wade and Bosh. KD is joining a freaking super team already who won 73 reg season games and has 3 all-stars....

This is unlike any other NBA super team ever. We are basically in 2004 Yankees signing ARod territory, except this is probably more dramatic given the talent disparity that now exists.

Congrats to KD!! Smart decision, in 10 years no one will really care why he ended up in GS. He will most likely be their playoff MVP as well, he will be the main key in the cog. A bunch of butt hurt fans can't diminish that.

His legacy when he wins a title chasing with an already great team will mean nothing

This isn't even really a situation of "If you can't beat em join em". I mean KD was only one game away from beating the Warriors, had he worked a little harder and the team retooled a bit, he could have very well beat the Warriors next season. This is more of a "I can probably beat em if I'm patient, but **** it I'd rather just join em anyway" situation.

Most money down the road, so they can get his bird rights.

As pathetic of a move it is to join the team you couldn't beat in order to be successful, it makes next season that much more excitin. We got a new villain team. It'll be exciting to watch the top teams against the Warriors, and very satisfying to see them get beat and bounced of the Playoffs. Durant's tears and frustrations will taste amazing.

I honestly think that fans care more about legacies than players.

He will have his rings, and that is what matters to him. In 10 to 20 years no one will care about it. Especially when he takes over from Steph as the leader of team. 90% of casual NBA fans don't really care.

Supposed "great coach" too

Barnes is laughing all the way to the bank. No hard feelings, Iguodala, Curry, and Barnes were all at a wedding not too long ago

It is mainly guys on the internet that care about this stuff. The majority of the public isn't going to care in 10 years.

Re: KD to GS - Pt III
People wanna talk about loyalty, honor..blah blah. Where was OKC's loyalty to Scott Brooks? Serge Ibaka? James Harden? Reggie Jackson? Or is loyalty only a one way street. Players should be loyal to the team, but the team doesn't have to be loyal to the player? Star plays should be loyal? But average players have no loyalty from the team?
Teams do what is best for them, and players have the same rights.

Lebron, Wade, and Bosh set the precedent for this era.
Last era was all about loyalty - Kobe, Dirk, Duncan/Manu/TP, Pierce all ultimately sticking with their teams through their primes, even through down years.
If Lebron doesn't set the FA trend, I don't think this ever happens. KD doesn't have the audacity to make this move if the first Big 3 never happens.
Don't get too attached to any players, prepare for more of this the next decade.
For the record, I love GSW and I love Durant so I couldn't be happier..

It's the national media that shapes public perception.
If Durant wins, he will viewed as a beta to Currys alpha.

Not if his playing at a high level.
