Am I right in assuming that each state has different levels of tax? So for instance, a player signing a contract to play for the Heat would be worth more (net, not gross) than another player signing a contract to play for the Knicks for the exact same amount?

Just interested to know....

I think all these guys over 30 getting 4 year deals on crazy money are going to be horrible contracts in couple years. So guys like Noah, Mozgov, Crawford, Lee, Marvin Williams, Mahinmi, Deng, Horford. I see a decent portion of those guys becoming negative assets in 2 or so years.

Correct. Heat, Magic, Spurs, Mavs, Rockets, Grizzlies all have an advantage because there is no state income tax in those states for athletes.

I don't know Torontos situation but I suspect the taxes there are higher.

For a guy who can't stay healthy and isn't a superstar, Beal's contract is pretty awful.

Googled it and there doesn't seem to be a consensus on it. But either way, 48 vs. 52 isn't exactly a signficant difference.

Mike Conley is easily the worst. For Memphis to get their money back he will need to produce about 60 win shares over the next 5 years. In his first 9 seasons he produced about 53, so that seems highly unlikely. Plus, he turns 29 soon. In years 4 and 5 he will likely be declining in production. I don't see anyway Memphis comes out of that contract OK.

Worst contracts:

1) Conley.

2) Mozgov.

3) Solomon Hill.

4) Noah.

All four of those are appallingly bad. Memphis is screwed for the next 5 years.

My quick list

1) Crawful
2) Austin "Daddys Boy" Rivers
3) Soloman Hill
4) Noah
5) Deng

10 games in, people are gonna be calling for heads on these deals. At least with Conley and Horford they'll give 2 years of good production before people get pissed.
